Week Three/Four

Sunday, Aug 24th, 2008 - by Michael McKeegan

Our time in Newcastle is done! Have got the basic rhythmn tracks down for 14 songs, of which 10-12 will be on the album and the rest…who knows? Again even in this 'bare' state everything is sounding rather sweet. There's a couple of pretty epic longer songs on there so it's been interesting to see how they've developed over the recording period, we've really tried to emphasise all the dynamics and energy as they flow.

Andy Gill reads newspaper to try and ignore the fact McKeegan isn't wearing black.

The two Andys (Cairns and Gill) have been holed up in London for a while doing more guitars and vocals and by all reports thats sounding really awesome. I'll let Andy fill you in on all that when he has a minute…We have a short break for a week or so and then it'll be more vocals and guitar leads/noises/samples etcetc…

If all goes on schedule the final mix will be done by end of September and then we plan to do another complete session in October to work on some b-side and 'unfinished' ideas. After a year or two of silence it feels damn good to be refining this huge glut of killer new material we have, can't wait 'til you all can hear some of it. I'll definately post some more video footage/pics when I have some more 'complete' (vocals etc) recordings to share.

Take care peeps,
