Michael McKeegan (Bass)
Question: What does Therapy? mean to you?
Hard work but the best, most rewarding feeling in the world. True satisfaction with riffs included.
Question: Favourite Therapy? songs?
Changes all the time. Obviously all the new album ’cos it’s fresh, but off the top of my head: If It Kills Me, Hey Satan—You Rock, Not In Any Name, Straight Life, Screamager, A Moment Of Clarity, Hellbelly, I Am The Money, Stalk & Slash and Innocent X.
Question: Favourite Therapy? gig moment?
Too many to mention. Feile ’94, Werchter ’95, Ozzfest ’98, Max (Melkweg) Amsterdam ’01, Donnington ’94, Monsters Of Rock Rio ’95… the list is endless. Notable mention must go to Forest Glade Austria ’99 where Graham keeled over and a guy hopped out of the audience and played Die Laughing immaculately whilst he recovered.
Question: Worst Therapy? gig moment?
Anyone where audience or band members get hurt. Other than that the Monsters Of Rock show in Santiago ’95 was hellish. Imagine 10,000 Chileans spitting at you… apparently it was a sign of affection.
Question: Who are your musical influences?
Phil Lynott, Blacky (ex-Voivod), Cliff Burton (R.I.P.), Steve Harris, Roger Glover (Deep Purple), David Wm. Sims (The Jesus Lizard), Thin Lizzy, Black Sabbath, Faith No More, Venom, Voivod, AC/DC, Iron Maiden, Hüsker Dü, Rapeman, The Jesus Lizard, Helmet, Nirvana, Tad, Kyuss, Celtic Frost, Dead Kennedys, Deep Purple, Metallica.
Question: Have you played in any other bands?
Evil Priest (old school death/black metal with less than serious lyrics) and Sons Of Massey (mostly instrumental cross between Slint and AC/DC).
Question: What are your hobbies?
Sadly most of my hobbies are music related… Getting more and more into this computer lark at the minute. Off tour I usually try to lead a ‘normal life’ - get up early(ish), clean, cook and spend time with my girlfriend. All the things it’s hard to do on tour.
Question: Any strange facts about yourself?
My feet are different sizes. Seriously! They love me in shoe shops.
Question: Name one item you can’t live without
Question: You have 24hrs to live, describe your day
Lie in. Late breakfast. Listen to some favourite music. Wreak havoc on enemies. Blow all my cash on a big party for all my friends and family. Die.
