Fear Of God

Story Behind The Song by Andy Cairns (Mar 29th, 2006)

The ominous theme continues with this one. Big riffs and chorus inspired by ideas from Neil. Part of the lyrics are inspired by the movie ‘Buffalo Soldiers’. We wanted the noisy, octave guitar solo to sound fucked up so we used my out-of-tune Mosrite. For some reason I think it sounds like a harmonica.

“May your God go with you.” - Dave Allen, Irish Comedian.

Lyrics

Soldiers with nothing to kill but time
Peace is boring
The disillusioned and the dispossessed
All want in on the action

You got the fear of
You got the fear of
You got the fear of god

In the shadow of white feathers
Are you afraid?
Are you alone?
Does the thought of dying
Make you freak out?

Yeah

History is demoting you
To a lost cause
Muscle-bound and impotent
You watch the poor drown

You got the fear of
You got the fear of
You got the fear of
You got the fear of god

You got the fear of
You got the fear of
You got the fear of
You got the fear of

You got the fear of god
