Lose It All

Story Behind The Song by Andy Cairns (Mar 29th, 2006)

This deals with alcholism. Starting out with a riff of mine that Michael claimed was ‘Melvins-esque’ we broke it up into a stuttering verse to contrast with the relentless main guitar hook.

The wig out section/break down was carefully put together to come back in with a bang. This was a bastard to sing as it’s quite high. Gave me a headache but no more than I deserve, the songs biographical lyrics inviting Karmic reprisal.

“The silence depressed me. It wasn’t the silence of silence. It was my own silence.” - Sylvia Plath, ‘The Bell Jar’.

Lyrics

Random radio
Static on tv
Losing count of
All the days and weeks

This spiral
Has worn a groove so deep
Can’t climb out
Pathetic, painful need

Lose it all
Lose it all
Lose it all
Lose it all

I stand to lose it all

This drinking
Drowning inside out
It’s so acute
Nights of broken glass

Lose it all
Lose it all
Lose it all
Lose it all

I stand to lose it all

Lose it all
Lose it all
Lose it all
Lose it all

I stand to lose it all
