Our White Noise
Story Behind The Song by Andy Cairns (Mar 29th, 2006)
This track deals with the murder of a schoolgirl and feeling helpless watching the events unfold on television. I love the drums on this track, it’s very melodic. We wanted the melodic verse to have a slightly resigned feel. There’s also a nod to ‘Babylon’s Burning’ by the Ruts.
“We are fragile creatures surrounded by a world of hostile facts.” - Don DeLillo, ‘White Noise’.

Lyrics
Flowers mark the spot
Where this world shut you off
Violets, blues and pinks
Surrounded by police tape
The sky is overcast
Winter swallows light so fast
Where’d the summer go?
Smothered under snow
We pass by
And we do nothing
Just walk on by
Alone
Flowers mark the spot
Where this world shut you off
Tragic blues and pinks
Surrounded by police tape
The sky is overcast
Winter swallows light so fast
Where’d the summer go?
Smothered under snow
We pass by
And we do nothing
Just walk on by
Alone
We pass by
And we do nothing
Just strangers
In our white noise
We pass by
And we do nothing
Just walk on by
Alone
We pass by
And we do nothing
Just strangers
In our white noise
Our white noise
Our white noise
Our white noise
Our white noise
Our white noise
Our white noise
Our white noise
Our white noise
Our white noise
Our white noise
Our white noise
Our white noise
Our white noise
Our white noise
Our white noise
Our white noise
