Community guidelines

These are the guidelines for use of Wall of Mouths. We ask that you abide by them when you are here and we promise to as well.

The message boards are moderated by hoochalobster (Sarah) Super Moderator and Teethgrinder (René Fennema) Administrator. We are available to answer any questions you have regarding the use of these message boards; both abiding by the guidelines and any technical queries you may have. Please ask your question in Your Feedback & Suggestions if possible, so that others can benefit (or in some cases help) too.

We do not preview or edit messages before they appear on the message boards, but we do reserve the right to modify or delete them if they violate the guidelines.

We reserve the right to temporarily block a person’s access to the message boards, or permanently close their account should they violate the guidelines.

Respect other people

You must at all times respect other people and their opinions, no personal attacks or insults. Of course healthy discussion is encouraged and disagreements to be expected but be reasonable and make your point politely.

Try to make new people feel welcome, we were all newbies once!

Carefully choose a screen name

Your screen name and your messages are your identity. Try to make your screen name original, if two names are very similar it is easy to be mistaken for somebody else. There is a member list for you to check what screen names have already been taken.

Your personal profile

Think about what you put in your profile. It is viewable by any other user so be cautious about what information you include. Your e-mail address is an optional part of your profile, and you can choose to hide it from other users.

Posting on the message boards

When starting a new discussion make sure it is on the appropriate board and use the search feature to see if the topic you’re interested in is already being discussed. If there are several discussions on the same subject, the moderators reserve the right to close or delete discussions accordingly.

Try to keep on topic. If the conversation has drifted wildly off then start a new discussion on the right board and continue your conversation there.

Don’t give out personal details on the message boards. If a particular member needs this information (e.g. for a trade), be sure you trust them completely and send it by e-mail.

Do not start the same discussion in multiple categories. This will be regarded as spam and will result in the removal of these discussions.

The message boards are not to be used for advertising.

Do not post copyrighted information, you can instead provide a link to the official source.

The trading or selling of any original items (ie. not copied in any format) is allowed. Do not discuss or arrange the trading or selling of copyrighted material in any other format than the original. You can discuss the trading of bootlegs and b-sides if original versions are no longer available to buy commercially (this excludes second hand shops and internet auction sites).

Remember that these message boards are public and that your posts can be viewed by anyone. The moderators reserve the right to edit or delete any comment which is likely to cause offence or distress to others.
