Obsessed fans! scary!

#

Started by Suz

Was just looking at the thread My T?-list and doubles. Personally if i was a member of a band i’d find fans that buy lots of copies of the one single/album because of minor differences in them, and EVERYTHING thats remotely related to the band a little scary!!!! In that thread someone had Michael and Fyfes High School yearbook! Thats bordering on being a stalker! Its a bit over the top n a little weird if ya ask me!
Anyone feel the same?

That’s called collecting, not obsession. I don’t see what’s wrong with that, it’s even fun :D
I’d dare to say I’m a collector myself, nobody in the band should fear me, I’m not obsessed by any bandmember personaly, maybe a little bit by the band ;)

No, that is weird! if you like the BAND for its music, why would you want to know what breakfast cereal the drummer eats?!? Very weird…

err… I don’t know what was in that “list + doubles” wasn’t that all music-related?
That yearbook might for some go a bit too far, as it’s not band related, but it’s just a picture, no personal info or anything I think. Think it’s quite innocent though…

You could have had the decency to turn him into drum skins instead, I’m sure he would have preferred that.

I think collecting stuff is pretty normal, always you want to know a lil bit more more about the band you like and about their lives.
Now stand the whole day in front of their homes, check the garbage, seems to be a bit obsessive, dangerous and extremely crazy.

There is collecting and there is obsessive…

I see some people on ebay bidding on several copies of Trigger inside or whatever, just ‘cos one has a digi-pack
or the songs are slightly different in arrangement…

…to me thats obsessive…

I bet they are the type that have obsessive compulsive disorder…

count buses, Spot trains…
Touch the light switch ten times before they watch Emmerdale
fold their socks three times
and write love letters to David Hasselhoff

One word…scary.

Like Suz said, wether you collect stuff or not, it doesn’t make you more a fan than any one else. I started buying anything I came accros (if I had the money) from 1994, I started searching intensively about 5 years ago, then I had a job, and so could spend more money on my collection.

I’m sure they’ve come accross obsessive fans, and I bet that were not the heavy collectors. All Therapy? collectors I know are very normal people. Call us obsessive, call us what you want, that won’t change a thing, I’m a collector and I’m proud of it :p

I’m a lot more worried about the people in here talking about Andy’s butthair and Fyfe’s foreskin

I don’t drink vodka for instance, and most of the things in my collection are cheaper than a bottle of vodka, and it lasts a lot longer :p

Agree with everything here Souldoubt!
I don’t think collectors are obsessed, they just like the band and are happy to buy products that don’t appeal to other fans.
I disagree with the more money than sense quote. If I had the money, I’d buy all the things that collectors buy, but because I’m always skint, I admire other peoples collections, particularly Souldoubt’s!

There’s nothing wrong with collecting, every band has a group of people that collect stuff.

Try going on a Nirvana forum and call all collectors sad. You’d be in for a bit of stick.

I agree with soul doubt. If I had the cash i’d buy most things T? related that I could. Though probably not the yearbook. I like the band as a whole, not the individual people. If you get me. That doesnt mean I dont think Andy, Michael and Neil are all awesome though :P

Well a bottle of vodka is something you can have socially with your friends and have a laugh, what can you do with Therapy? matches? they just sit in your house collecting dust! Collecters dont even listen to or use half their collection because their afraid to do damage to them!
