This is what we heard from Therapy?’s manager:

“As for the other territories question I can answer that. The album will have been offered out and it is up to each territory to decide if they want to pick it up or not. There is no official release date as such because it is an individual decision. There is nothing that [the Universal / BBC Product Manager] can do to change that or influence that. When and if and it is ‘IF’ a territory goes with the album then [the Universal / BBC Product Manager] will tell us. [..] The only thing I can suggest is that we put a notice up to say that if the album becomes available in a particular territory then we will let the fans know but right now it is not available anywhere else other than the UK and Ireland. Other than that it is ‘we don’t know and they don’t know’. Indeed it may never be available other than in the UK and Ireland. But [the Universal / BBC Product Manager] WILL tell us if anything changes.”

As far as I know this is out of the bands’ hands (the project was initiated by the BBC/Universal), but hopefully Michael will be offering his point of view during or after the upcoming tour dates.

Don’t kill the messenger…

Hey, at least we get to see the cool inlay tales and anecdotes. I’ll have to say, I’ve heard many of these recordings, or got copies from people listening to it at some point in time.. I will survive without the album, but then, the’re plenty of hardcore fans who’d pick this up in half a breath, if they only could.

Oh, and I do think this is an excellent release concept. Personally, I think those sessions contain some of the best recordings of the early works, as well as some interesting tunes in the Evening Session. And quite likely, more that I haven’t heard yet. :)

Thanks Rene! I think we all realize this all has to do with the label or retailers , not the band.

One question I’m not sure of, when you say
that it’s up the individual territories decide to pick it up.. does that mean the various territorial subsidiaries of the label? Or does that refer to the retailers (iTunes ect)?

I’m just wondering if there’s someone we can pester and see if we can get them to pick up the release once they realize there’s a demand.

Will be interesting to see how that turns out. The move by EMI is also good news, and something that will hopefully result in other record companies doing the same thing, plus offering the DRM-less songs for the same price as the protected ones.

I’ve forwarded your question to T?’s manager, FNYANKEZ. I’ll let you know as soon as I hear back.

So… can I send someone some money for a cd-r of this to be shipped to the states, since it’s fucking impossible for me to obtain it through legal means, and begging for a cd-r seems to be a little higher on the moral scale then scavenging bit-torrent.

And only 7.77 which converts to only around $15 US which is sweet!

I went ahead and downloaded to my work computer before someone decides to change something.

I think there is drm. When I started to play one of the files my media player said I had to update some drm stuff.

you have to sync your mp3 player thru media player, as if ur dragging and dropping the file gets copied but the license to play it doesnt.

media player copies licences as well as the file

although if u have a shit mp3 it might not have drm support, if thats the case burn the files to a disc (providing you have permission to do that) then rip the disc to mp3

Nah I’ve got a really good player, a 60 GB iAudio x5, so I can’t sync the files as you have to just drag and drop them.

Every time I went to play a file it asked me to download the licence and I went ahead - piece of cake.

Listened to the tracks and I am impressed - some of them sound better than the studio recordings IMO.

Again thanks man, finally an easy way to get this cheap and easy without having to install shite software on my Laptop - a true winner :D

FNYANKEZ, it’s perhaps less important now that 7digital has the BBC Sessions available, but here’s the clarification I received from T?’s manager: “I meant ‘the various subsidiaries of Universal Records’. It is up to the record company to as we say ‘pick up the option (to release the record or not)’.”

…but you’re right it is less important with the 7 Digital site. At least we know who to blame for the bother! :D

After a ton of work I was finally able to convert it over to iTunes (it even downloaded the album art from the UK store :D), and onto my iPod.

To get it on my iAudio x5 I had to:

1) Download each WMA track individually
2) Get the license for each track (by entering email address and password)
3) Burn tracks to 2 CDs (they wouldn’t all fit on one)
4) Rip both CDs to convert WMA to mp3
5) Relabel each track as the numbers were all fucked up

 It was a fair price and sounds good though :)
