Personally, I think that Valentine’s Day is a bit naff, but at the same time I think ignoring it as some kind of protest is just as naff, so fuck it, buy her a card, pretend you like her and pray you might actually get your leg over tonight…

Actually, I managed somehow to persuade her that this year it is HER turn to make a special effort and book the table and all that.
Quite how I did that I will never know!
To be fair, she has laid on some pretty amazing surprises for me before now - our 2nd wedding anniversary in particular - so it’s not like she dumps all the pressure on her man to “impress” her like some women do on Valentine’s Day.

So your hoping that this year will be the one then, all those years of praying maybe finally pay off!
I normally do nothing, this year i have made a bit of effort… but i don’t like the whole doubling of flower prices and stuff just because it’s valentines. My dad gave mum her’s on sat as he put it “because i would just forget on the day and it costs me £4 less” see romantics are still alive:)

I say to my wife that I will always get her something as well as a card but, unlike wedding anniversaries, I refuse to have flowers delivered on Valentines cos there is quite a bit of one-upmanship that goes on within offices (she works in an office, see) whereby the girls all compete over whose fella got the biggest bunch.
Of course it comes down to whose fella is the richest, really.

It’s strange, everybody here seems to know what the sense of that is. I always believe that is a pure french custom.

Yeah but it’s very true. luckily for me i had a gf last year and got one just a few weeks ago for this year :) and yeah things are easily changeable and i can understand people can be upset.
Here’s me sparing a thought for everyone who doesnt have someone.
Also though, fair enough people are upset, but I disagree with people hating on Valentines day so much and being so bitter. If you wait your turn, Karma will come back and give you someone. Remember, Karma follows you around ;)

I don’t think that people in relationships have a special duty to remember single people on Valentine’s day.
When you go to a Christening do you say to people “Hey, don’t forget, there are people who died today as well…?”

So what was it you were doing? eh eh?!! :P
Be good and the good Karma swoops in, like some sorta’ crazy eagle or mongoose and does all kinda cool stuff and it is good :D
I gave a card and a rose to my girlfriend and it was really great to see her smile as she did, made me feel good to know she felt good :)
Also for the weekend i’ve got her some chocolates and lingerei ;)
I cheaped out a bit on the lingereie but I doubt she’ll be wearing it long. Plus it’s nice, I like it. it’s lacy and feels good. Heh.. look at me trying to justify my cheapness :P

your right, noone has to feel sorry or comfort people who are upset about being single, but in the same way some people pray for dead people.. it’s the same sort of concept just on varying scales. I’m just really happy I have someone :) and if someon doesnt have someone, I dont pity them, ‘cause it is weak to want pity and I wouldnt want someone to pity me. I just have a hope for them that soon they can find happiness :)

Don’t get me wrong, I am in no way being nasty about single people. It’s a horrible thing to be lonely, I remember the feeling all too well, and I hope the WoMbles on here who are going through that right now find what they are looking for, whether it be woman, man or both.
I just don’t think yesterday was a day when I should have been thinking about that.
If it is any consolation, single people, I had jalapeno peppers on my dinner last night and now I am reeping the painful rewards as they make their exit from my body.
OUCH!

Well, speaking as a single person (Dan and I are on a break), I’d probably have been a bit freaked out if I thought you were thinking about me yesterday.
I agree: no need to be thinking about us unfortunates. Especially if it makes you feel smug. :p
