Of course I could end up eating my words, but this time I actually think they have a genuine release date and a finished article that WILL come out.

Maybe.

I hope.

At least, that’s what you said it was gonna be about

they had genuine release dates since 2006 and something always went pear shape.

I wonder who’ll be selling it over here cus americas got a best buy only deal, but these best buy deals are easy for other shops to get around as the usually just order copies off the canadian or south american distributors.

i think they should change the title of the album at least. i had tickets to see gnr on the “chinese democracy tour” a good three or four years ago. and they cancelled. twice. this album really does not want me to listen to it.

I will believe it when I am holding it in my hand. There is little way in my opinion that this album will ever be able to live up to the hype at this stage.

Nothing justifies being recorded so long.

I would still however see myself as a first day buyer.

Street of Dreams is now what “the blues” is called… an even more wanky name if you ask me?

I can’t say i wont by the album as i’m sure i will as GNR have a special place in my heart even though axl did piss over that place a few years ago. I just wish he would call this a solo album and everyne can get on with there lives giving a shit.

hey that’s a good way of putting it!

It almost does feel as if the album is Axl’s personal little thing and we are almost being intrusive and nosey for daring to actually want to hear the damn thing.

He’s such a tit, isn’t he?

It’s just as shame that Slash and co have played into his hands by releasing utter shit since they left GnR. I used to think Slash was amazing, now I think AFD was just a fluke.

I dont think axl is as bad as hes made out to be, I think the problem is hes a bit of a perfectionist and is very driven to achieve his vision.

I think the danger with that is you end up overworking everything and strangling the life out of it.

With songwriting I believe there’s a small window of opportunity between the time when you haven’t put enough work on a song, where it is still a bit ragged and not ready, and when you have overdone it and lost the essence of what made it good.

Bit like trying to cook a soft-boiled egg. Too little and it’s all shite and translucent, too much and it’s all hard and bland.

Spot on there, Dennis.

‘Appetite’ sounds like a band who had been practicing those songs for only a week or two; they’re still a bit ragged but the passion is all there and it rocks, meanwhile ‘Illusion’ sounds like a band rehearsing for two years, and it sounds completely overblown.

A Therapy? reference point would be Infernal Love - the ten weeks they spent in the studio recording it was too long and it knocked the life out of the songs - for example, listen to Me Vs You during the live shows in ‘94 versus what ended up on the album.

Agreed, only “obsessive” instead of “a bit of a”! :D

There is no way on Gods earth this album will ever live up to the hype, pretty ludicrous to suggest so. And i’d wager that there won’t be a single kind review. But i’m still excited!

I’ve heared the leaked stuff and I love it, by no means is it going to be a classic album and as mentioned already will never get any critical respect due to the circumstances around it, but if you listen to it with an open mind not expecting a guns n roses album you’ll enjoy it.

i’d take what ive heard of this album so far over death magnetic any day of the week
