At the movies: Tenacious D: The Pick Of Destiny

It’s only just been released in Austria and I’ve seen it tonight. After the amazing ignorance it received in the States I was already expecting a rather lukewarm movie. It did, however, turn out to be all that one could wish for. It’s mindless fun in the vein of the “Bill & Ted” movies and thoroughly enjoyable.

Anyone else seen it?

I have to say that a lot of Jack Black’s films are shit but the stuff he does for Tenacious D.. like all the skits on The Complete Masterworks are pure comedy genius, so I’m assuming (hoping) the film will be more of the same.

I think Jack Black’s best movies are the D movie, “High Fidelity”, “School Of Rock” and… err. “Dead Man Walking”. ;)

No matter what bullcrap he’s been in, though. I could never really not like him.

It wasn’t nice, it was the most disappointed I have ever been :( Peter Jackson and Jack Black, two men I worship and adore, working together… I was so excited about it… and it was just shite. You know the extra pointless half hour at the end of LOTR? It was like 2 1/2 hours of that.

Anyway, to reiterate… Jack Black is completely gorgeous and adorable and funny and ace but he has made some very questionable choices in terms of films.
