So, Dan, if you are reading this…
Hi, not to say we miss you, cos, well you’re still a c*nt.

Here in the Midlands, we don’t call it The Internet or T’Internet, we just say:
“Ah ay gorra com-PEW-ter, loik, ah cor werk ‘em proper, so’s ar dow bother. It’s all porn and penis enlargerments anyway, ay it, loik?”
I think.

I think Dan said it because he was emailing me. Obviously if he had been emailing you he would have said the more technically accurate ‘World Wide Web’ :)

Some of the tv i like..
Desperate housewives
Peep Show
The Mighty Boosh
Sex Inspectors
Garth Marenghi’s Dark Place
League of Gentlemen (Was allright but not amazing..)
Phoenix Night just wasnt very funny.. “Oh gosh that guys in a wheelchair.. outrageously random and runny!!”
It just had lots of shouty dialogue.. hardly ever had any “jokes” and when there was they lacked much humour.

Ok - I agree with you about Desperate Housewives, and Peep Show is quite funny - but other than that you have terrible terrible taste! The Mighty Boosh isn’t just unfunny, it’s cringeworthy. I actually really like them as people, but they should stop now before somebody puts them out of my misery …
And as for Phoenix Nights I don’t think anyone ever at any point was supposed to laugh at the wheelchair, they laugh at the jokes - which are obviously completely over your head! :p

Whats something funny from Phoenix nights then? :P
and god, road to nowhere.. how was that ever considerd funny? for example; when he thinks hes going to be in a movie, or something, and ends up getting bummed by some black guys. Whys that funny.. it simply isnt!
Mighty Boosh isnt funny all the time, I think you should watch it with a friend. I remember watching it the first time and hating it.. but it really grew on me. Plus, theres so many good phrases, songs and all that.. even if it’s not your cup of tea all the time while you watch it, it carries over for when your talking to friends too. I dont know if that makes a lot of sense.. but often someone will say something and someone will respond with a line from the Boosh.
Oh yeah, and they’re working on Mighty Boosh series 3, which will be awesome i hope :D

Max and Paddy knock a cow over and its lying flat on it’s back in the road:
Paddy: Is it dead?
Max: Either that or it’s going to piss it down.
Now that is funny.
I’ll concede that Peter Kay isn’t a brilliant stand-up but that’s about it.

Well the original joke was actually that he could walk, and only used the wheelchair for sympathy and other allowances.. there are jokes all through both series suggesting this.. but they never made anything more out of it. It’s just something different in a character, just like in the programmes that you have mentioned that you like… I would maybe be more offended by the blacked up Papa Lazaro then Brian Potter. I’m personally a fan of Phoenix nights.. some very good and funny script writing and well chosen cast.

Phoenix Nights and Road To Nowhere on DVD both had me in stitches over Christmas, for what it is worth, but comedy is very subjective, it surely isn’t worth arguing over.
My wife thinks Absolutely Fabulous is hysterically funny but to me it is the biggest pile of shite ever, whilst she doesn’t “get” The Office at all. This just proves that there is no such thing as funny or not, it’s just whatever tickles you.
Mind you, I think it makes perfect sense that my wife can identify with a programme about vodka-swigging women and I associate with a series aboout dull people in an office…!

That is very funny! :D I never watched the Road to Nowhere though …
I think Peter Kaye’s stand up is absolutely brilliant, but I suppose that might be because he talks so much about his family and home life and I know so many people who are exactly as he describes. Maybe that’s harder for younger people to get? I don’t know. Anyway it would be a bl**dy boring world if we all liked the same things …
Cheers for the text btw Simon - i didn’t text back because I was really busy, and now I just can’t be arsed :)
