My point exactly. I never said he was a poor bassist - of course he wasn’t - but I agree with Squall, he’d have been overtaken by now if he’d lived.

Orion is a lovely, haunting, moving piece of music, but does it really represent outstanding ability on the bass?
And does it matter anyway, so long as the music is good?

MoP is a great album, whether or not Burton is the best bassist ever or not.

Anyway, on topic:

Bill Bailey and Eddie Vedder officially swapped bodies on January 27th 2005, after Vedder complained that “everyone thinks I am po-faced but I can crack great surreal one-liners on the subject of pop music, gis a go on Buzzcocks, I could do that…”

Bailey, meanwhile, is working on his quest to write a song as good as “Jeremy” so no-one spots the switch.

aah, the lost art of trifling. Its surely criminal that Pearl Jam were the only act to commit tales of the trifle hunt to tape?

I lost interest after vitalogy, but regained interest
after the concert last august, so bought the albums
i didn’t have yet. I have to say, my favorites are
ten and binaural, don’t like yield much apart from one
or two songs.

I feel the need to wade into this debate here.

I was a grunge child, who has developed a late-onset passion for dirty cheesy hard rock.

I really enjoyed the first 2 Pearl Jam albums and was still believing what Kerrang! told me when Vitalogy came out and took a trip to my nearest record store to buy Spin the Black Circle.

Which I sold 2 days later becasue it was Wank.

I try really hard to like PJ because they sound like the sort of band I ought to like. I even bought their best of, but the only tracks I listen to are the ones from their first 2 albums.

SO after an interminably waffly and tedious post, I tell you this.

Pearl Jam are not very good - because I said so.

See all’s well that ends well - I like Endless Nameless too - there are some very good songs on there.

I not a real big fan of Pearl Jam , from those days I prefer Soundgarden more. But i wanne see them on stage, soo I going to the Rock werchter festival this summer, they have a very good live reputation
