I disagree entirely. Master is far superior.

Justice was their heaviest record - also had some of their best riffing and technical playing. Only thing that let it down was the recording and lack of bass.

Buffalo Boy: That…doesn’t make sense! The reason they’re getting worse is BECAUSE they’re copying whatever scene is happening! And you can’t really criticise a band like aerosmith, cos although they’re not my cup of tea they do what they do and thats it. Every aerosmith album is, well, an aerosmith album. Metallica would do well to try and focus on what metallica is, rather than be influenced by the trends around them.
Okay so St Anger was a blip in an otherwise perfect record!
And yes I can criticise Aerosmith if I really wanted to but i’ll let them be!

Oh and they are still good live.
So, that’ll be Aerosmith 1 - Metallica Nil!

If you think Joe Perry is cool then I can’t argue healthily with you about Metallica vs Aertosmith cos that is laughable! :p

Ugh! Thank god that mess is over. After seeing their horrendous Sgt. Pepper tribute, I now understand why the rest of the world hates us.
The UK government should have brought Simon Cowell up on trason charges.

kill em all - patchy
ride the lightening - mostly good
master of puppets - excellent
justice for all - excellent
black album - excellent
load - poor
reload - slightly better
st anger - poor
So i reckon thats 16 years since their last decent album, which is how i old i WAS at the time! :D Not exactly a perfect track record BB…

I know that many people out there love MOP, and fair enough, but I just couldn’t get into it. But I love KEA - as aerosmith say Just Press Play.

you’re not a fan of MOP? I do like it, but it was always AJFA for me. Overall though, and risking the wrath of all the Metallica fans in womble land, you’ve gotta admit its not a great return on a 25ish year career is it? I just think they’ve been lost since the black album.

Just couldn’t & still can’t get into it, I try but it just doesn’t do it for me. AJFA is a truely great album, I agree with you totally there. Well you have to admit that the black album was the point at which metal/rock what ever you want to call it hit the mainstream with such an unignorable impact - and I don’t think that any band can survive that & come back to the quality they had before. Guilty pleasure: 2x4 off of Load, sorry I know it’s wrong but I just can’t help myself.

…* legs it*
Has anyone noticed in the vid for I Disappear James gets to drive a cool car really fast, Lars runs from an explosion, Kirk has to dive out of the way of a plane… they all get to do cool things - apart from Jason who just stands there while a crowd pushes him about. He got the shortest straw there didn’t he??! He should have punched Lars and left Metallica years ago! :D

And you guys can keep laughing ‘cos Lars is laughing all the way to the bank carrying millions of money. Yes, he’s a $ellout. They all sold their souls for money metal. But who wouldn’t ;)
BTW, from Some Kind Of Monster -“movie” did you guys see the art of Lars’? Maybe one of the kids painted them?!

Load and Reload are terrible! Out of all those songs they had nearly one good album! This would be my tracklist for it:
Fuel
2 x 4
Prince Charming
Cure
Devil’s Dance
Hero Of the day
Carpe Diem Baby
Ain’t My Bitch
Bad seed
King Nothing
Where The Wild Things Are
Poor Twisted Me (i’ll allow them one slow blues number!)
Fixxxer
Anyone got any others?
Thorn Within, Until It Sleeps, The Outlaw Torn. The rest of the list looks pretty good.

Lars means the damage is done and my timing still sucks so we have to keep touring until I’ll find the right timing.
:P
Someone says ‘tallica doing Axl’s..I think Axl’s doing something like Spice Girls then. :D

Popular opinion is that Warner Brothers pressured them to go on tour. A winter 2007 release seeme very likely now and I cant wait :)
I think it will be good.
Remember St Anger was just an experiment - thats ALL.
We wont get that album again.
They have been writing it since summer 2003 and have whittled over 50 cd’s worth of ideas into the best 14 songs, rehearsed the shit out of them and only kept what they believe to be the best.
So I do think we’re in for a good album this time :)

I have just honestly lost faith. As for St. Anger being an experiment - yes, this is very true and we all realised that “after” buying the CD.
They were not hyping it as an “Experiment” before it was released, it was being hyped as a “return to form”.
Don’t get me wrong, I would find it great if they once again contended for the Metal Crown that was once theirs, but I doubt that they are still capable, hope I end up eating humble pie.
No matter how good the album turns out, one thing will remain unchanged - Lars is an absolute Arse Biscuit!

Hopefully a whole fuck load pf practice - which is what they have done this time - so they know the new songs inside out will be conducive to laying down some good tracks.
The last date of the last tour was showing signs of definite improvement. Hopefully all this rehearsal will improve their live show even more.
If they could get back to Cunning Stunts greatness - that would be amazing.

I’m with Squall on this - I think they are more focussed this time round on making a really good album and i’m looking forward to it.
Not sure about Cunning Stunts tho - i binned my copy! I thought it was interesting to see them in the middle of their ‘Alternica’ stage when they were making out they were drug barons with their image but thats it. It’s a curio of a band in a very odd time of their career, the guitars sound really weak and they are trying to make out they are something really fancy - Cliff must have turned in his grave!
Thank God they’ve gone back to being metal giants! ;)
