black sabbath, all four of ‘em also I’d say the surviving members of The Who and Led Zep

those bands shaped the music that makes me live worth living so nominating them for living legends is the least I can do.

Does that mean that Tom Cruise is a figment of my imagination or can still beat the crap out of him if get the opportunity?

The problem with giving someone the status of legend is that you’ll always get one person who disagrees.

But for me: Bon Scott, Angus, Patton, Bolan, Ray Davies, Tonwsend, Plant, All the T? boys, Alex Harvey, Bowie, Steve Harris, Ginger, Nazarath …etc.

Oh I forgot to add Henry Rollins to my list.

One of my favourite Jeremy Hardy quotes:
‘Beauty is only skin deep. Peel away Tom Cruise’s skin, and all you are left with is a feeling of deep satisfaction.’ :D

The man is right he is very much dead… if he isn’t then he’s doing a great job pretending to be.

Dermot wrote:

Mark E Smith

I would go with that, he is a first class nutter… but has re-invented him and the fall so many times and manages to keep the albums fresh and exciting (mainly by changing line up every album) and the live gigs are are really good.

I would possibly have… Jimmy Cliff as mine. I saw him a few years ago and it was one of those spine tingling gigs.

This looks like a question and the answer can only be NO unfortunately!

Not made anywhere close to a big enough impact to be considered in this category. Great band - yes! Great fontman - yes! Legend - not for me!

I suppose this whole question really (as has been pointed out) is a metter of opinion. For me a legend is someone who is famous and universally admired because of something they’ve achieved in a particular area - be it sport or music.

In those terms, for me, Andy cannot be considered a legend. The mention of his name would lead to a blank look from most people if you asked them. He’s great at what he does - no doubt about that so I’m not knocking andy!

I’m not knocking anyone who has different criteria for identifying a legend but not for me.
