Well indeed , while the second part of the 80’s I was between 11 and 15 within my teenage period. This kind of sound make me remember some of good memories. But i think all these bands still sound well.
What are yours ?

Don’t think your bands would have made it anywhere near my cassette deck those days.
I remember the 80s well : Dead Kennedys , The Damned , Exploited , The Replacements and The Gun Club to name a few.
Oh how I drove my parents mad !

I started getting into music in the latter part of the 80’s with bands like Tesla, Iron Maiden, GnR, MSG and the like. (but NOT Bon Jovi, Motley Crue, Poison or other make up wearing bands)

I was very young in 80’s but the music I remember listening to is stuff I still enjoy now… i was lucky that between my parents, cousin and brother they set me on the right track.
Lots of stuff like Led Zepplin, Blondie, Beatles, Dead Kennedys, Sex Pistols and the Descendents. My first records were Public Enemy, Beastie Boys and GNR and they were because my 11 year old brother told me I should ask for them… I’m pleased he did:)
I was hated at primary school discos by the dj’s.. “have you got any crass?”..”umm wouldn’t you prefer the birdie song?”

I really started getting into the music in 1985 with the Cure & Kate Bush - I was 12. A bit Later there had been les Thugs , Joy Division, Siters of Mercy etc until some stuff rather close to metal music since THERAPY?-Troublegum. This band opened my mind better. I hope that maybe I have a large musical culture, rich of sounds I hope.

you can sum up my eighties with these songs or bands:
-Alphaville
-Wham! and The Cure (couldn’t avoid them when my cousin used to live at my home, she was a big fan of theirs )
-“Master and Servants” and “Shake the Disease” by Depeche Mode (And yes :D ) Enjoyed these 2 songs when I was 10 ,and weirdly I’m getting into their music again recently…
-And in the late 80’s: U2…Please be indulgent, don’t throw me tomatoes because of that
@AG’s : ah “Angel’s eyes” and ” sweet little mystery” what ace songs they were !!!! :D

Went through some old vinyl last week and came across the original album of Anthrax’ Spreading The Disease.
Bought in 1985 and back then I used to buy these plastic covers to protect my albums.
The record is still in mint condition , not even a scratch on the cover.
Heard there is a market for these things and they can go for pretty sums on eBay and the like. Can anyone confirm ?
Not that I’d sell it , it keeps the great memories of those days alive and my little fella dances to it !

I don’t think there is that much of market… even the outside sellers are selling much rarer stuff by them like the picture disc of the very first album and that’s only going for £4. I would keep it, it’s a good album and worth for the memories alone. I still have the vinyl of Blondies- paralel lines which i used to dance to when i was very very small;)

Oh no,I don’t feel ashamed but In France, they were considered afterwards as a “Disco hairdressers boys band” and during my grunge period in the 90’s I used to reject them …And don’t worry in France (and I think in the rest of the world) they’re still getting strong.
Saw yesterday recent Vidz of Dave Gahan’s interviews for french tv,it seems that man is still nice despite all the success he got and all the excesses he went through ( Alcohol, drugs…)

In 1980 I was 3.
The early 80s consisted of listening to what my mother wanted to listen to - Alice Cooper, Twisted Sister, Led Zepplin, Black Sabbath, Madness, Rolling Stones, Be Bop Deluxe, Plastic Bertrand (or to be exact one song off the album - thanks to him for decent pogo-ing) ..

how nostalgic! the (early) eighties were great (for me.) I remember attending a U2 gig in Het Paard in The Hague in 1980 and Killing Joke at the same venue a few months later; they played so loud, it still hurts.
gigs were cheap in those days. we could go to the UK Subs for 2.5 guilders.
the first half of the eighties were better than the second half, musically speaking. there are exceptions off course like the mission, metallica and therapy?, but they’re not really eighties’ bands.

The 80’s were dark, dark times for me, in terms of dress sense and music taste, so we’ll just gloss over that and talk about…erm…nice dry day today, isn’t it? Warm enough but not so wark that it’s sticky and uncomfortable, eh..?
Oh look, a blue car!
