I work for a bank my friend, I never saw my life going this way but there you go. Do what I do - keep going! Keep being creative, it makes you a far more interesting person than the mindless 9-5 zombies I see everyday! I write songs too so keep doing that, and if you can get em recorded - they might not be enough to make you a millionaire but at least you can document a piece of your life in a format that talentless people cannot!

As for the job - there’s no such thing as job satisfaction these days - even starting your own business and doing shit your own way has been made virtually impossible thanks to Tony Fucking Blair so do something that passes the time and pays well, take the money at the end of the month and don’t worry about it…works for me! :)

CAD - never loss hope mate. At my school we were told that computer work was going to be the way forward. But they only did using computers, not the important stuff like building or programming. And being an impressionable student I believed them - mug.

I’ve been in clerical work from about 5 months after leaving 6th form. And have been stuck in non-satisfying work for the last 12-13 years.

buffalo-boy is right about job satisfaction nowadays, it is dying at an ever increasing rate. But it doesn’t stop you from thinking about retraining in a trade or skill. Look around where you live & think what trades/skils are lacking in your area and which of those you think you could trun you hand to. As you can always do a correspondence course around your new wonderful job you’re going to get.

But don’t ever get rid of your creative side of life, as it’s what makes you you. I don’t know what it takes in terms of drive to do the music making/song writing, but I can tell you it sucks to have no talent or drive to be talented at all.

Chin up son, you’ll get there.

So, in my view, you’re not pointless :)

Yeah & I meant every word that I “said”, if you have a creative edge to your existence - keep going.

Dermot - I don’t know the first thing about zen. Wasn’t she that blue doris off of Farscape???

Jesus shitting Christ, mate! You seem to dismiss everything anyone likes or does. Relationships, sex, jobs, football, other tastes in music and/or bands, people drinking, smoking, taking drugs, meat, being happy, enjoying our short stay on earth. You even say life sucks, is pointless etc. Has it ever occured to you that some people actually enjoy some of the above (if not all)? Being so fucking negative about life, I’d suggest you get some proper and professional help.

Just some advice, like.

Yeah, job satisfaction is a tough one. Does anyone really love their job? I work in a decent place, doing a decent job, getting a decent wage etc.. but it’s about as interesting as buying a pint of milk.

However, it allows me to be happy and do things I want to do outside of work. So, I sacrafice 8 hours a day (being a whore to a huge conglomerate, basically), in order to be comfortable and enjoying life outside of work.

Then again, you could also look at what I’ve typed and take the “he’s aimed low” point of view! So, I dunno really. :)

Well, when you’ve had 2 jobs that ended badly and a band that for a while was going somewhere die on its arse and live with a house full of fuckwits and almost lose your marbles from insomnia, panic etc…

I am NOT critising you, mate. All the things you mentioned simply just come with life. They are all a part of life. Jobs, bands, twats and illnesses, you name it. And of course, they drag you down. But, DO something about it. I know it ain’t easy, but thinking that life is crap and unfair isn’t gonna help.

Jobs: get another one!

Band: find a new one!

Fuckwits in da house: Move!

Insomnia: Weed!

See, simple!

@ Squall - I think if they are the worst things that have happened to you then you are doing pretty well. But if you genuinely have insomnia and panic attacks you should see a doctor, unless it’s stress related they won’t go away by themselves …

And I agree with everything Zipless just said. Someone once said “If you want to make your dreams come true, first you have to wake up”. There’s no point sitting around feeling sorry for yourself - throw everything into your new band and crack on with house hunting, if nothing else you’ll be knackered! :)

Of course i DON’T know you. How could I? This is cloud cuckoo land after all, just a message board on the interweb where people take on different personalities. But you seem to be in some sort of discomfort (I might be wrong) and I am only voicing my opinion. Take it or leave it.

And yes, my remark about the weed was meant as a joke, as you pointed out before that you’re doing this straight edge thingy. One thing is for sure though; if ye can’t sleep, weed helps. Anyways, best of luck and cast a smile our way once in a while :)

Not for me it doesn’t…if I can’t sleep it’s usually because I have things on my mind, and weed makes my mind work overtime, so I find it even harder to drop off.
