QOTSA - Era Vulgaris

#

Started by interzone (Order and method)

I recently heard the new qotsa album that called Era Vulgaris. I first thought it sounds like anyone else of their album, but closer of song for the deaf anyway.
This is their own signature. Just, there is nothing new there inside. that is still a good album, listenable.

I disagree with this post. But hey, you’ve got the right for your opinion like I. :)

I really, really love this album. Into The Hollow is one of my favourite tracks and so are the opening song and Sick, Sick, Sick etc. The bonus track is hilarious and great stuff. :)

For some reason I have no desire to listen to QOTSA at all, although they’re definitely one of the few more original bands around. Still, they’re music doesn’t really speak to me.

@ wolf : it’s different, you can’t compare both albums. Both of them are cool, and I personnally like them, except I meant QOSTA go on to grow their music up in the same straight direction as they do it ever. Era Vulgaris is a good album I will probably buy it. About T? it’s absolutely and definatly different. Each album of T? is different to anyone else. This is the reason I think T? is more creative, more inspired. They still follow their own artistical direction, explore and try to do something with new stuff.
Nevertheless, QOSTA is one of the more original bands for while.

sorry dude, but i don’t agree. Yes t? never release the same album twice, that’s a great thing but still they haven’t released since troublegum (except maybe SPYF) a perfect album, they seem to experiment a lot and never be good enough at any of those experiments, while qotsa is still perfecting they’r style while releasing different albuns all the time, you can’t compare per see lullabies to era vulgaris, they are very very different records, and t? sounds kinda amauterish when compared to qotsa, just compare pure t? rockers like rock you monkeys with full on qotsa like better living trough chemestry and see the difference for yourself. QOTSA is more inspiring and
techinically a much better band that t? …still i do love t?

I refuse to listen to it. I could take or leave Lullabies (in my head was AWFUL, and nothing else was really THAT good) and I heard Sick Sick Sick. They’ve gone downhill again, and I just know the album is going to have 1-3 OK tracks and a whole load of sickening balls.

Only just got around to listening to this album… not impressed I must say.
“Make it wit chu” is a great song but it’s an old one of the Desert Sessions, the rest is kinda poo.
Me thinks the big ginger lad has lost it…

Bring back nick oliveri! QOTSA have always been very one dimensional, now they are trying to outgrow that and they can’t!

Not all of it. I own the album with Who Knows on it and it all sounds the same. A big fat riff that has been produced so it sounds like there are 47 guitars doing the same thing and Josh’s subdued talking that he calls “singing” with absolutely no variation in tone! No wonder he had to get other people in to sing and play on it! It probably would have just been on droning note from start to finish otherwise!!!

I would say he can sing, The first three albums probably show that the most… always seems in tune to me, he has quite a smooth style to his singing and not the hugest range as far as he doesn’t really sing low stuff like Lanagen could. But for someone who originally didn’t want to be a singer but just did it for his solo album which became the first album i think he is very good.
I don’t agree with the one dimentional comment, yes at one point they had three singers so gave the albums and songs greater variation.. but they still do very interesting and unexpected things with their songs and arrangements. LTP really wasn’t their best album as it had songs that were just filler and could have been left off and it was the first since the debut album to just have josh singing so it was missing the more punk screams of nick, but the new one i do still stand by as a really good album… it was a change, had a very unique sound and strong sounds. But this is all my opinion so doesn’t mean i right, just think their are far more one dimentional bands out there and wish more bands were doing as half as interesting stuff that the Queens do. Josh has gone very much up his own arse though. It was more fun when they kept the egos in check and just partied and laid waste to everywhere as they went.. but thats how bands go as they get bigger i guess?
