i’m watching. i’m a sucker for these kind of events. i always watch them and there’s only ever about 2 good bands on. i do the same with the brit awards every year aswell, and they’re always shite too.

speaking of metallica, i shall be seeing them tomorrow in the very same stadium.

Heavy as !! James voice’ was a bit off here and there but overall great.

Apparently Wossy and Graham both said they were awful.

Which is rich considering Wossy likes Pete Doherty and thinks The Klaxons are amazing :D:D

James Hetfield has been belting it out for pretty much 25 years. His voice is bound to suffer.

They still perform great and tight and heavy.

Babyshambles cant sing or play to save their lives.

Squall shut the fuck up and give it a rest. I don’t personally like Metallica or Babyshambles, but you’re like a broken record.

The day you finally get a band that isn’t shite and has some actual fans then maybe you might be in a position to comment. Untill that day, we know your opinion stop harping on about it!

I’m glad to see the Police were just a 3 piece on the day - no backing singers or jazz noodles! :D

People - don’t worry about what losers like Jonathan Ross thinks of metallica! You think Lars Ulrich really cares when he goes home to decide which of his 9 jacuzzi’s he’s going to spend the afternoon in?! :D

did i see a different show or something?? Metallica were bad, it wasn’t tight,it wasn’t heavy, it was old and tired. Hetfields voice was terrible or as he might say ‘terribleoooohhhhyaaaaaaa’. They seem to be getting worse and worse.

they played Enter Sandman, Sad but True and Nothing else Matters at the Freddy Mercury tribute.

I guess they didn’t have there own sound equipment etc. but god did they sound shite. The only thing to luck forward to with Metallica since their albums suck ass is the live performance. Even that seems to be gradually going downhill.

That could very well be the case.

I just checked out the vids on youtube and must admit that they seemed pretty lifeless compared to their normal performances.

Compare that performance to their set at the Freddy Tribute concert (same set of songs) and you will see what I mean. James’s voice just seems shot, Lars’s drumming just keeps getting worse, Kirk is pretty unchanged and Rob would be good if you could actually hear him.

I know I bash Metallica often of late, but still think that it was a disgrace that they cut them short half way through the second song to show Crowded House - like, what the fuck?

Some dude on youtube has posted the audio from Lisbon - with a photo showing on the screen cos there’s no video to go with it. Prob the easiest way for most of us to hear the Lisbon gig.

I missed the actual live performances but was able to check them out on youtube.

Now to be fair, I haven’t been a Metallica fan of late, but I didn’t think the performance was that bad - it’s gonna be hard with no sound check to gauge the levels etc, and as someone has already pointed out how old is James now?

He lost his voice during the Black Album didn’t he?
