Isn’t the track about Andy & Michael’s friendship, possibly… I’m sure I remember reading that somewhere

If anything I’d say it’s about Andy and Fyfe;
“I’m sorry, but I’m not ready for home”

Saw Andy and Martin do SMW at Lis Ard is Cork, Nick Cave was on after. It was just before SP-YF came out and it sounded amazing, it just stuck in the mind straight away. It ruined the album version it was that good.

Andy gives a short intro to the song on the Hate, Kill, Destroy single b-side version. It’s live in Belgium i think and he says something about the river being near their houses when they were young. I know little else about it except it’s amazing. Also on the single is a storming version of sister, another seriously underrated track.

I would imagine it’s at least partly about Fyfe…the line “I always meant to write you a letter…” sounds like it’s about him.

I love this song as well.
Just reminds me, personally, of anyone I ever took for granted that I now regret.
Don’t know if that was the same kind of relationship, but I reckon it was about Fyfe.
