Started by Gimme Back My Brainsaw in Other Bands & Artists

Whats everyones opinion on black metal?

to me most of it is just shit, its far too theatrical and corpse paint is a bit pathetic, but i am really getting into a few bands like Anaal Nathrakth, Mayhem and Darkthrone but overall im more of a death person

So i like some of it but quite a lot of it is shit and image above substance.

The Norse are the best at it, Emperor, Darkthrone, Satyricon, Taake, Burzum are all great bands.

I reallly like Emperor, Enslaved, Darkthrone, Satyricon, Mayhem, Code… I think they are a bit of a joke in Black Metal terms but I also have a soft spot for Dimmu Borgir

Really you are only trully black metal if you can’t actually read the band name from their logo… extra points if you can’t pronounce it on the first few attempts.

If you guys like BM then you should pay attention to Marduk or Nifelheim. And Enochian Crescent from Finland, Ghost of Saturn can be heard thru youtube.com. I like the melodies but the vocalist I don’t appreciate. Maybe that’s the main reason I don’t like BM. But I think that from Norway comes all these best BM bands. At least they started burning the churches. =D
But does that have something to do with music, I don’t think so.

But check the norwegian BM scene. I think that’s the best still. But no one takes the title from BM true starters Venom. At War With Satan. =D
