Seeing as they are a “local band” to me along with wonder stuff and neds atomic dustbin, i should like them, but they dont hit the spot at all.

Neds on the other hand, well they were just proper ace!

Ned’s are “my” band but I’ve always loved the Poppies too. Finally saw them at their two dates at the Brum Academy a couple of years ago - absolutely amazing shows. Never thought I’d ever get to see them - or Ned’s for that matter, so two nights on the bounce was a real treat!

Seen every Ned’s show bar two (Longest Day fest and this year’s Glasto) since they reformed, next up is the 20th anniversary show at the Little Civic in December! Would loved to have seen them when Therapy? were supporting on the Irish dates way back when - I would have been one tired little teen by the end of that!

Grant, are you sure you should be flogging your dad’s old tees?!

The Little Civic?! Jaysis, hardly a huge venue!

Think it’s about 1500 capacity? Big enough for me!

If this is Wolverhampton, as I presume, it must mean the Civic Hall, cos the Little Civic is a very small venue - upstairs above a pub!

The Civic Hall is a great Venue, though, and as you say is plenty big enough.

It’s up to 22 quid now - it’s surprising what people will pay for stuff on eBay. One man’s rubbish is another man’s treasure etc. (I can’t remember the correct phrase).

Is your Dad getting a cut of the profits?!

Not a bad venue.

I think the last gig i went to there was some Irish band, three piece…kind of straddled the indie/metal fence…oh fuck, i forget the name of the band now…funny bloke with a goatee, very enthusiastic bassist, kept saying “fan-fuckin-tastic” every time a song finished…bugger…The Rapies or summat…Drummer was from Derby, I think, but hey no-one’s perfect…

Hmm, not support announced as yet for the Ned’s gig. I wonder if thon Irish boyos would be up for it?
Granted, supporting the ‘bin doesn’t quite have the same cache it did 16 years ago but hey, why not just for old times sake? And if they felt like doing a set heavy on Babyteeth Pleasuredeath and Nurse material then so much the better!

That’s the one! Had a four-part harmony song with a line about some bloke “fucking my sister”.

My, how my nan blushed when they did that one!

Great dance routine that went with it, though…

@summer of hate. If that’s the case count me in! Great T? tunes, and an early bath, getting home before Neds come on (sorry!)
