Any good new comedy on the box in Blighty? I’m a fan of Partridge, The Office, Chris Morris, Mighty Boosh etc…

People tend to either love him or hate him but I really liked Russell Brand’s new show Ponderland - it was on Channel 4 every night last week. Watched them back to back on Channel 4 On Demand hungover on Sunday morning, was a great cure :) Think it’s finished its run now though. Screenwipe with Charlie Brooker on BBC4 was good as well.

Can’t think of anything else really… or any sitcoms for that matter. Thought The Eejits was insulting and terrible… pale imitation of Father Ted! >:-<

new series of Boosh this month i believe…erm, not much else about. Do you do Peep Show? or that mitchell and webb look? The latter is ace, Sir Digby Chicken Caesar is the best character of the year for me.

Agreed, I was well disappointed with that.

I didn’t want to be the first to say it.

Mind you, it was funny when the U2 roadie’s revelations about the band included ‘“The Edge” is just a made up name’. That was about it, though.

Peep show for me has been the funniest in a long time - not really ‘new’ though,

Other than that its been a bit shithouse lately

Down The Line isn’t new either. But it is a new series so I guess it counts.

Peter Serafinowicz has his moments, but I’m not sure if it’s because he’s funny or because I adore him.

Definitely the latter, mommy. His show is not funny, but I am reminded of the scene in Black Books where Fran gets very excited by the sound of his voice… that was funny.

Why didn’t series three have a commentary? :( The ones for the first two were almost as entertaining as the show itself.

Usually not. But when it’s Dylan Moran berating himself for the shite he’s produced, then yes, it’s actually quite entertaining. :)

You haven’t. There was a really good show on a week or so ago, but it was part of a thing called ‘Comedy Lab’ ,and was just a one off. It was very funny. About some Scottish people who met up every week to play poker, and it had Claire Grogan in it. Did anyone else see it?

Was it Doug Stanhope? I randomly saw him doing some standup on TV last week and he was excellent. His website is dougstanhope.com (it’s been catagorised as ‘hate speech’ by Leeds Learning so it must be good ;))

only seen the bits of Peter Serafinowicz’s show when he was on Rossy. The Cillit Bang one was very funny, the X Factor wasn’t that good. I do like him though.

It’s on catch up tv if you have cable. The joy of it being you can fast forward if you’re not amused and then watch the funny bits as often as you like. And no adverts - ever!! I love technology :)

you -have-all-got-to-watch- ‘Flight of the ConChords’ on saturday night at 00.25 on BBC4 (repeat of Tuesday night’s episode). It’s the funniest thing this side of buttered bread…

http://www.bbc.co.uk/comedy/conchords/

It’s a very gentle, improvised, observational ‘real life’ style of comedy in the style of ‘the office’..about a band called ‘The Flight of the ConChords’ who are the 4th biggest Digi-folk act in New Zealand, and have now come to New York to seek fame and fortune. Their hapless manager, Murray (who is also the assistant cultural attache to NZ in NYC) guides their misfortunes..and each episode features a musical break out in the style of a famous pop video of recent times. In recent weeks we’ve seen ‘Urban Pressure’ (in the style of Pet Shop Boys West End Girls) and a hilarious Bowie tribute this week just gone (the one thats on saturday night!) in which the ghost of Bowie advises one of the band to wear an eye patch to make himself look more mysterious, and he loses all depth perception with humourous results!
Not to everyone’s taste, but i like it so much i’ve ordered the DVD already - 12 episodes (that and its filmed on location in NY and i like it there :-D ). It was originally on the Radio, with Rob Brydon narrating.

Watch out for the hilarious NZ Tourism posters in Murray’s office - advertising the charms of NZ with such gems as ‘New Zealand - like Lord of the Rings only a bit better’! and ‘NZ - it’s cool!’.

bloody hilarious…

I watched the first 2 episodes stoned and thought it was hilarious, then watched the next four and thought it was average at best. It just got pretty shit by the end.
