I would say the theme was more “be good… or god will get you!”

I think the holy bible (the album, not the spin off novel) is more a commentary than a concept. I consider Dark side of the moon, the wall, quadrophenia, tommy, etc to be true concept albums. And, of course, the Extreme album. I can’t believe you saw them on that tour Den, how many more times are our paths going to cross??!

allegedly! For those of you who don’t know what we’re talking about apparently if you play the Dark side of The Moon simultaneously with The Wizard of Oz film its supposed to soundtrack it. If i was really that obsessed by it i’d test that theory.

Brave by Marillion is a great album.

I’m normally not into this melodic rock thingy but Brave is a classic and The Great Escape is one ‘ell of a track.

Ayreon - The Human Equation

An oustanding piece of music which has loads of guest vocalists James LaBrie (Dream Theater), Mikael Åkerfeldt (Opeth), Devon Graves (Dead Soul Tribe), Devin Townsend (SYL).

A concept album about a man who has a car accident and ends up in hospital in a comatose state. The car accident was very bizarre: it was broad daylight and there was no other car in sight. His wife and his best friend are keeping a vigil at his bed, trying to understand what happened, hoping he will wake soon. Cut off from the outside world, the man finds himself trapped in a strange realm where his emotions- most of which he’s ignored for a long time- have come to life to confront him with all the choices he has made in his life. As he is taken from one memory to the next, he slowly becomes aware of all the events leading up to his accident, and realizes that if he ever wants to wake up from his coma, he must find a way out of his prison…

Sounds wanky but is honestly a fantastic piece of music :-)

It is a fact that everyone in Wales listens exclusively to Rush and Whitesnake.

In fact there are only two buttons on a Welsh jukebox, one for each band.

A typical Welsh joke:

Bowie did a lot of concept albums, e.g. Ziggy Stardust right now revived by Saul Williams on his free (or better pay as you like) album The Inevitable Rise And Liberation Of Niggy Tardust (in cooperation with trent Reznor).
