Started by Viirkokka (Jordan)

I’m about to go on Holiday to Dublin for a week on this coming Monday (me and friends all celebrating 18th b-days) so I was wondering if anyone can reccomend some great places to go?!

You can’t leave Dublin without having Bruxelles. Otherwise, just pubcrawl to you drop and steer clear of temple bar if you want to dodge all them mainland types and high prices.

I suggest to go to Whelan’s, in Wexford st (George st becomes Aungier st and then becomes Wexford st). In one section of the pub there are gigs every night (no free entry), in the other section you go for free before 10, music is good and people are friendly!!!

Also Sinei, which is along the Liffey on the north side of the town, is nice, even if the music is not exactly “hard rock”!

I also like Cassidy, near O’connell bridge, there is live music every Friday and Saturday (almost sure)! And food is good!

Ciao!

Well, because you said your going for a week I’m just gonna plug Belfast anyway.
There’s the Lisburn Road pubcrawl you can try - doubt you’ll finish it though!
There’s some decent bars like the Rotterdam, Spring & Airbrake, Laverys, The Front Page (suprisingly), Stiff Kitten and a few others I forget the name of.
Train up and there’s a hostel you can stay in - Big Pip stayed there for a few days so it’s obviously fine!

If you do come up to Belfast let me know and I’ll go out for a pint with yah!

Thomas Reid’s on Dame St. is a good bar.
Hogan’s on George’s St. is also a nice bar.
As mentioned above, Foggy Dew, Whelan’s and Bruxelles are all good bars.

And I have to help promote my mates’ gig on the 23rd.

Am in Poland with the Girlfriend, so he is perfectly safe :) I maybe on the prowl this weekend however.

Oh yeah, is a bit of a dive, but Fibbers has a decent Jukebox. Is down the end of O’Connell street and turn right at the Ambassador.

I pretty much recommend anyone to just pubcrawl up George St. (avoid the pink pub at the beginning and one further down called “the Dragon”, unless Brokeback Mountain is your fav movie that is…).

Hope you are having a blast mate.

Foggy Dew is nice and I like Anseo on Camden St a lot.

You could always dart out to the cosmopolitan utopian suburb of Blanchardstown and hang out with the likes of Cuch and Pip and their bunch of merry rock&roll men , who stroll the local pubs drinking whiskey while discussing the merits of Goethe over a game of backgammon.

For the second, Isaacs is not bad, and one bed in a dorm costs less than 20 euros…

About hotels, I’m not able to tell you anything!

Barnacles Hostel was allright and none to expensive. Quite clean and a nice kitchen and common room area.

Had a kickass holiday and didn’t do too many pubs (did go in the foggy dew but it was like 4.something euros a pint and i was feeling cheap :D ) ended up going to tonnes of clubs since all were basically 2 euros a drink hehe. also went to a museum for a shot of culture :D

Budget is probably up to £100 - no idea what that is in monopoly money though.

Probably needs to be a hotel, and probably fairly nice too - it’s for dr bomb’s birthday see.

Monday: Redz - 10 euro entry and 2 euro drinks. Was an allright club, a bit plain but the dancing was good. Danced with myself in the mirror, there were a couple of bellends who thought they were the shit at dancing but really werent, i suppose thats just another by-product of clubs though. At the end of the night I headbutted a girl by accident when I was dancing! Danced for about 3 or 4 hours.

Tuesday: only went to a few pubs then went back and i fell asleep.

Wednesday: can’t remember the name but it had nightclub/bar bottom floor, bar next floor up, chairs on floor above that. Drinks were 2 euros a pop with 6 euro entry (i think). Was in the Temple Bar area. and they were giving out flyers with chuck norris on. It wasn’t a particularly great club, but that may be becuase the people seemed to be pricks that night. Dance floor was too small.

Thursday: Citi club (think thats the name) with something like 6 euro entry and 2 euro drinks! Found a lovely czech lager called something like Tyzetski (give it a try!) or Tasky or something. Anyway i’m not into my beers and lagers but it was nice. Was a good club too, bit of a sausage fest but they always are! Had a gay guy come onto me, very flattering. Danced for about 3 hours.

OK so it’s all booked up - We’re staying at Bewleys in the end, it’s next to the RDS Arena, so shouldn’t be too far out of town.

Next thing we need to do is work out what to do while we’re there. We’ve got from 9am til 2pm before we can check in, then all evening. After that we’ve got until about 8pm on Sunday. Any suggestions?

We did the Guinness and Jameson’s museums last time.

What date you in Dubs ?

Top tourist thing imo is Kilmainham Gaol ( the jail used in the movie In the Name of the Father ). It’s walking distance from city centre as well.

Go and do the Jameson tour and remember to shout “me” when they as for volunteers - you can then test 6 lovely Whiskey’s :)

I personally think that the Guinness tour is a rip off (and trust me, is my fav beer and the place is my temple), but the gravity bar is very nice, probably the nicest pint of the black stuff I have ever had.

What is also cool and cheep if you want scenary is if you just hop on the DART (Dublin train) to Howth - is right by the sea and all.

Otherwise plenty of Pubs and other stuff to be seen.
