Why do Therapy? ignore their pop side these days?

Started by Sam (Sam Brown) in General Therapy? Topics

Some of their best songs are so good because of the unashamed popness i.e. Lonely Crying Only, Loose, Screamager, Nowhere, etc. Am alone in wanting Therapy? to do another album that emphasizes their melodic side?

That said, I imagine writing pop-punk type songs could become quite tiresome over time. Throwing different styles into the mix is bound to be more rewarding for the band. And for the fans for that matter.

Agreed - they should make the album they want to make. If the fans like it, so much the better, but writing the songs people want you to write is generally never a good idea. Unless you like the sort of bland, inoffensive excuse for music put out by, say, Within Temptation.*

Personally I would prefer an album more along the line of SPYF, but if they did through in a couple of “fizzier” songs to entice non-T? fans into realising what they have been missing all these years then I could suffer a one or two of them.

Agreed. Lose it All and Rain Hits Concrete would probably sound much harsher given a SPYF type treatment. Likewise, in my view, a song like Six Mile Water or Sister would probably be deemed more commercial if mixed and produced differently.
