Really enjoying it, especially the Johnny Marr bit. He’s next when I have finished having a go on Dave Lombardo, I swear…

:D

I’ve seen bits and bobs, good stuff. Bit perpelexed by the inclusion of Matt Bellamy in the show though. Townsend…Hendrix…Page…Slash…Bellamy?! Hmmm…

Its just that all the other guys, i forgot Clapton, are legends known the world over. Bellamy…isn’t! I’m not knocking him, i’m not really a fan but yeah he’s a great guitarist, just thought he stuck out like a sore thumb on the show.

It did say that he’s probably the first ‘guitar’ superstar of this century, which I agree with to some degree.

I guess its hard to think of guitar legends without picking them from the 60’s - simply because they were the first ones to do it.

Its not trendy to be good these days…

Plus - I think that a lot probably has to do with the amount of stuff that young people had / have to do…

I bet there aren’t loads of kids sitting in their bedrooms practicing the shit out of a guitar cause they haven’t anything else to do - they are all hammering their playstations and online porn

He particularly stands out because of Muse’s music as well of course, as he throws everything in there…I’m sure there are equally good guitarists but they just don’t put their talents on display as much because of the style of music they release

Nothing wrong with Guitar Hero per se. I accept its just a game and is fun once you master it - but i can also play real guitar.

When people start thinknig theyre good at guitar because they can play DragonForce on expert - then soemthing is up.

Didn’t anyone think putting Tony Iommi with a stained glass window a little tacky? Other than that, great series.

i think the problem with the guitar heroes of today is that they don’t want to be seen as heroes…they just want to play and write good songs as opposed to make a feature of the guitar. But the guys from Trivium are excellent guitarists (shit band tho IMO!)

Indeed they are a terrible band. Mastodon piss all over them in terms of originality and awesomeness.

Mastodon are a good band but arent as original as people make out, its just theyre the band with their sort of sound who are most in the public eye so get all the recognition.

Trivium are terrible, I think the problem may well be that the singer doesnt even listen to metal anymore, so has a very 2 dimensional view on how metal should sound.

I mean after their second album they were complaining that they dont like the sort of msuci theyre making, well theyre the ones who made it so have nobody to blame but themselves.

well when the singer was asked about the screaming he said something along the lines of I stopped doing it because none of the bands we listen to do it, and we think its very childish and we want to change our music to sound like what we like

I can name a few modern guitarists that are pretty good at the moment, Herman Lee from Dragon Force for one and Sam the other guitarist from the same band; Zakk Wylde obviously; Dimebag Darrell (RIP); Jerry Cantrell; the pair from Shadows Fall. Although I couldn’t think of another british guitar legend without going back to the 60s really. It’s such a shame that we have such amazing music over the years to come to dudes wearing tight jeans and look like a bunch of pussies and churn out some catchy pop turd that they call rock tunes (yes I am talking about the new ‘The’ bands…), they make me sick everytime they polluted my enjoyment of music Grrrrr
