What Will the New Album Sound Like?

#

Started by RoyBatty (Steve)

Obviously, with T?, it won’t be more of the same. But with descriptors like “hard-edged,” “heavy,” and “focuses more on rhythm, not melody,” and lyrics that celebrate “people’s quirks” and “what it means to be human,” what do you think/hope it will sound like? Personally, an in-your-face, aggressive musical approach counterpointed with personal, comtemplative lyrics would work for me. Anyone else?

The only thing I’m certain is purchasing that damn suck on the day of its release!

Can I get a “amen!” my humble brothers…?

Yeah I’d love a SPYF type production - what a fantastic job Head did on that, and the two new tracks on SMFTTYP.
But I like the suggestion that they’ve focused on rhythm ‘cos the clip they posted a while back; “Rehearsal”, sounded pretty cool and experimental, using lurching patterns similar to so-called sludge metal bands like Isis and Neurosis… to my ears, at least! :-D

Still, I hope they haven’t abandoned melody completely!

Amen, brother, er…if ‘damn suck’ somehow means ‘wonderful recording,’ that is! ;-)

Well, looking at the pattern from the last decade (popy album followed by rougher sounding album) I’d say it will be vaguely NANE like anyways. If there is a emphasis on rhythm rather than melody as they say then I wouldn’t be surprised to hear a more beefed up Nurse.

This is exactly what I imagine it’ll be like (based on the information we’ve got so far). I wouldn’t be as happy with that as Charlie if that were the case :-(

If Alan’s thoughts that it’ll sound like Isis or Neurosis are true that’d be cool… can’t really see it though

judging from the song titles and the little info we have I reckon its going to be uncompromising and dark with intelligent lyrics.

I reckon the mood will be similar to suicide pact but the sound will be quite far away from it.

Hee hee, I’d never imagine it would sound like Neurosis/Isis - the lack of a second guitar and layered keyboards etc make that difficult - but from the “Rehearsal” clip alone, I can see similarities in the tone and rhythm. That’s all I meant really.

Exactly my thoughts when I heard the rehearsal piece, and now they’ve mentioned it’s more rhytm oriented than melody I’m even more convinced it will be Isis-like.
The thing is though, I don’t like Isis… :-( way too slow…
But despite this I’m still full of joy for the new album!!

3 new clips up on site now, from Michael. I take it from the title that the 3 clips are ‘Enjoy the Struggle’, ‘Crooked Timber’ & ‘The Head..’.

It all sounds good, especially Enjoy the Struggle; should be a great single.

The record company better use that when they’re promoting the album. Don’t worry, I don’t need paid.
But it sounds pant wettingly good.
