Didn’t Andy say that HA and NANE sold well ?
UK chart positions from highest to lowest;
Troublegum (5), Infernal Love (9), Semi Detached (21), Nurse (38), Suicide Pact (61), SMFTTYP (111), High Anxiety (113), One Cure Fits All (152), Shameless (196), NANE (2xx). I dunno about Babyteeth & Pleasure Death.
So unless NANE did great business in Europe (which admittedly is possible), it’s probably their least successful album, commerially speaking.

I do quite like the cover but I can see where people are coming from, I know this will sound stupid but imagine Iron Maiden did something similar with just there logo and a basic picture of eddie over a black background there would be uprore from the fans. (End of stupid statement)
I know it’s probably been mentioned before but has this label demolition records got any other well known bands ? Maybe we can check to see other artwork that’s been done.

chart positions are fuck all nowadays though I guess, I mean some sales of OCFA (webstore and gig sales) probably wernt counted in the charts for a start (unless they had a barcode scanner at gigs which I doubt) and being on a small label less sales equal the same amount of money alot of sales would need on a big label (dont quote me on that but i’d assume the smaller labels pay higher royalties) plus being on a small label they arent given an insanely large advance to pay back.

My guess is that everthing that leaves the suppllier is counted as a sold album. So if a recordstore orders 20 copies, that counts as 20 copies sold.

In the UK at least, it’s based on a sample of shops. For example, in Leeds there are several independent music shops but only one of them has a chart scanner*. CDs are ordered on ‘sale or return’ so the shop can send them back to the supplier if they don’t sell.
*I’m going back several years, this may have changed.

Yeah, a select cross-section of music shops used to have a “Gallup” machine (Gallup were the folk that compiled the charts at the time - no idea if they still exist or not), where the barcode had to be scanned for each sale. Of course, if you were in a hurry to serve people, you’d just not bother to scan things so you could speed things up, or if there was a particular favourite of yours, you’d scan it a few extra times. All very un-foolproof stuff!
I imagine in this day and age they have a much more efficient method that is less open to abuse!

I think it’s slightly better than the Tap’s “Smell the Glove” cover and way better than The Damned’s “Black Album” but not as good as “Back in Black” or Metallica’s 91 Record. Think is, it doesn’t look/feel like a LP cover; it’s seems to me an EP or single cover. I think before the mp3 age covers mark the session, time that music and all these pre internet promos that goes hand to hand, ear to ear reflects the idea with the power of image. I’ve never forget the “Infernal love” era, video clips to singles covers all goes with eternal harmony…But, you; know that was a time, ancient time.

Surely every CD sold is bar code scanned these days because that’s how it is rung up on the cash register, and how the shop keeps tabs on its stock. Very few shops don’t scan nowadays.
I love the artwork though, great idea, instantly recognisable. Having said that, the gemil on the CD and inlay of the ‘I Want My Money Back’ bootleg was a bit different and in my opinion better. It’s the one I got my tattoo based on.
