Playstation 3…

… worth getting?

…best place to get one?

…essential accessories (I believe an HDMI cable is the way to go)?

… worth waiting for a Killzone 2 bundle?

… can you get a left handed guitar for guitar hero?

Yep (not sure if they do a VGA cable - but that would be dependant on your tv anyway)

Not sure - the first one was decent (by all accounts)

Not sure If you can - it would be a 3rd party prehipheral (you can flip the standard guitar round and there is a lefty flip option in the game though - next best thing!)

Skimmed through the PS3 deals on the site - even though a lot have expired, looks like if you are getting the 80gb version for about £260-£300 with game bundles you are doing ok.

I bought one not last Christmas but the Christmas before - the only games I’ve bought were Orange Box (good) GTA (good) and Pro Evo Soccer (which I play religiously).

Looking forward to the new Resident Evil and Silent Hill games which are both out next month

Yeah Gav’s right, you don’t need a left-handed guitar, the controls can be reversed.

Oh and I suppose the Blu-Ray thing is a selling point for some folk too.
Not arsed myself, but if you are one of these film buffs who likes his high definition tellies and surround sound and all that malarky, you might appreciate the upgrade from DVD to Blu-Ray for your filmy things.

I don’t know about the UK, but here in Belgium there seems to be a competition between stores to offer as much games and accessoires with the PS3 as possible. So it’s worth checking out some stores.

Indeed, but it’s hard to use the whammy bar if you just flip the guitar… but like Gav also says, there’s probably a 3rd party guitar out.

Thanks for that guys, I’ll probably invest in Guitar Hero at some point then and see how it goes.

Silent Hill is probably the main reason I’m going to get one now, although I can’t really see me not getting the PS3 Ratchet & Clank. Resi Evil might be on the list depending on how much I play the thing, and I’m hoping there’s an SSX in the pipeline somewhere.

Not too worried about blu-ray - nice to have but not really something that’s pushing the decision,

Mirror’s Edge is quite fun as well, but it’s pretty short. If you can get it cheap, I’d recommend that…

a HDMI lead is needed for ps3 and 360s I cant stress this enough, if you play in standard definition its impossible to read the text on 90% of games.

Not true - for the 360 you can use composite leads or a vga cable as well as HDMI for HD display (but you are right that standard def sucks hairy donkey balls)

yeah, im using vga at the moment and the qualitys top notch, I should of worded it a bit differently but using the standard def composite lead makes certain games unplayable (the text heavy ones)

I disagree you can’t read the text on 90% of games, I didn’t go HD until a couple weeks ago and I only ever had problems with about 15% of games, though this is obviously still very frustrating if you’ve just paid full price for something. Depending on your budget and what you’re looking for, if you are, tesco do a really good 21.6” full HDTV with VGA, HDMI and component slots as well as various other ports, for £160.
