Its not even like they are trying hard to disguise it any more…
[quote]Did they try to disguise it in the first place? Our phone calls have been going through Menwith Hill for donkeys years ! Also there have certainly been cameras on the main roads between my house and the city centre for 15 or 20 years. They put them there because the area was so bad that taxis wouldn’t even drive through after dark.
If I’m honest I have to agree that I feel much safer now than I did back then when almost everyone you bumped into was a prostitute a pimp or a drug dealer, and I don’t mean in a nice Johnny Vegas way. In fact 2 people were shot at the pub at the back of my house! I know it’s still all going on in the back streets, but at least I can walk home from work on my own now and I’m not frightened, even if it’s dark. I love where I live and hopefully I’ll never have to move, but I’d probably have to reconsider if they got rid of the cameras from the main road.
I’m not saying it’s right - and people should certainly be told where the cameras are, I’m just saying that there are 2 sides to everything and a blanket ban on cameras would be a bad thing.
