Official Nausea Bag

#

Started by whaley

Hi,

I got this ‘official nausea bag’ from the States off eBay. It has been mentioned in the Record Collector article, but that’s the only place I found it so far. It’s a brown paper bag from some medical supplies company (by the looks of it it might as well have been a grocery bag :-) with a b&w copy stuck on (extensive x-ray investigations have revealed that there must be some sickeningly uninteresting motive underneath) that says ‘official nausea bag’ and has the nurse cover picture. Inside mine was the Teethgrinder single (regular one, same as the other digipak ones I have) and a yellow copied discount coupon.

Does anyone have more information about this? Looking at the enclosed coupon makes me believe it was given away at record stores or something..

Hi Marco,
I’ve also got one, it’s official and I thought that it was given away by the Naussea single, ‘cause somebody is ‘don’t know the word in English’ aan het overgeven. I think it’s a cool item to have, yours was only the second time I saw it for sale (mine the first I saw it).
It’s been given away only in the USA.

Yes, I’d say Nausea would best fit in the bag :) I believe the Record Collector article said it came with Nurse, but I’m not sure.

Yes you are right:
overgeven = puke, barf, and throwing up.
It’s got the Nurse face on it, so it’s very good possible it came with it, I’ve got it with a signed promo photo from 1992, pretty cool and together only for $3.50

I believe it originally came with the American promo of Nausea. The one you got there i guess is one that has been separated from the original cd. Put the two together and you got a very collectable item on your hands.

I have seen the Nausea promo for sale quite a lot … but to find the ‘sick bag’ (and in the condition you have it) is very rare indeed.

My bag is also in a very very good condition, only the 2 upper stickers(lips) are a bit of a strange colour, but I think this happens with all kinds of glue after a period of time. I already have the Nausea promo, so I’m also really happy with this item!!!

Mine is not so good, it has been torn a little, but still I’m happy with it. I do have the Nausea promo as well so I could reunite them ;-)

Okay, got an answer from Mr.Cairns himself ;)

the nausea bag was given out by a&m in america to radio stations, record stores and pluggers in 1992 as part of a promotional campaign for the nurse album.

My guess is that some record stores simply took the bag to use with any T? item they would sell, therefor mine had Teethgrinder. Another guess then would be that at least a few hundred existed.

But… it was in 1992 and in the USA, Therapy? where no way famous or wellknown over there, therefor I think that there where maybe a 100 but there are maybe only 10 alive these days!!!

Ps. I’ve seen Meat Abstract more times then this bag, so I think it’s really rare. Does anybody else on this board has it?
