Loch Ness Marathon

#

Started by Tubthumper (Scott)

Hey guys,

I already mentioned this in the training thread waaaay back in in April (seems like long ago, but time has flown by for me at least!). Anyway, I’m participating this year on October 4th as part of my work’s charity of the year which is the Royal National Institute for the Deaf (RNID).

Myself and my colleague Rikky would be very grateful if anyone could spare any money they have to help us in raising as much money as possible. It’s certainly been an experience so far, and that’s just the training! Never in a million years did I see myself doing something like this but I think I’m starting to enjoy it in a weird masochistic way :P

But as I say, even the littlest amount will mean a lot.

Thank you for your time. :)

Thankfully not!

As much as I wish I could, ha. But we do run alongside the Loch itself.

1 week to go! Oh oh.

Got a few runs to get in yet. Today, tomorrow and Tuesday then that’s my training done. Might hit the gym on Thurs/Fri for a bit of X-training.

I’ve had a self-imposed booze ban going on since 15 Aug, so cannot wait for the afternoon of the 4th Oct!

:D

Thanks! If the weather is anything like it is today I’m going to fry alive.

I need it to drizzle slightly. Is that too much to ask?!

Ha, good one!
I might play a bit of “If It Kills Me” but I don’t think I’ll actually put that into practice.

I really tried to think of something funny to follow that - but the best I could come up with was “walk through dark-Ness”…

It would probably have to be changed to “Walk round dark-Ness” though, or even “Run…”

I give up

It is kind of cool to organise the Loch Ness marathon on Pet’s Day, just thought of that, but the main question is: Scott, did you make it, did you enjoy it, are you in agony ;-)

Place your bets now: I say he finished in 4.12.15

Hey guys! I made it through my first marathon!

Not quite in the 4hrs 30 mins I was hoping for due to injury, but finished it in 4hrs 37mins 43 secs. Absolutely delighted! :D

I’m sore as hell today though, my knees refuse to work and my foot (which became my main problem yesterday) has decided it doesn’t like me.

But thank you all for your kind words and support!

Well, conragtulations: I mean, you don’t really know what you get into because you had never run 42195 meters so finishing is good! Good to know you were not Nessy’s breakfast and hopefully the thrill of having completed it will surpass the pains, cheers!

Haha, I think Nessie went hungry!

It’s not really sunk in yet, but I’m sure it will in the next few days. I was on course for 4hrs before picking up my injury, so I was very happy with my pace. :)
