Death Race 2010

#

Started by Dermot

In this, the competition’s sixth year, we’ve unanimously decided to shake things up a bit and “borrow” a new set of rules from an established Death Race site :-)

1) This year, pick TWENTY celebrities who you think are going to pop their clogs in 2010.

2) The only restrictions are that they have to be real people, 18+, and can’t be on death row / scheduled for execution.

3) This year, the score you get for a death depends on the celebrity’s AGE as follows:
18-29 years: 12 points
30-49 years: 10 points
50-59 years: 9 points
60-69 years: 8 points
70-79 years: 7 points
80-89 years: 6 points
90-99 years: 5 points
100-109 years: 4 points
110+ years: 3 points

4) BONUS points are awarded as follows:
Unique pick: +3 if you were the only competitor to pick that person.
Unlucky 13: +2 for a celeb who dies on the 13th of any month.
Unnatural causes: +3 for murder, suicide or accident (but not State executions).
Party pooper: +5 for a celeb who dies on their birthday or Xmas Day (date of death is that of the region where they died).
Joker: Nominate one of your celebs as joker - if your joker dies you get double points for that person.

5) They must be famous enough to get a major news website obituary or to have a wikipedia entry that isn’t a stub (don’t think any WOMbles would be sad enough to create their own page!)

6) In the event of a tie, the following criteria is used in this order:
a) The most correctly-chosen deceased celebs.
b) The youngest average age of hits.
c) The first to score points that year.

7) Committing murder is cheating

8) Good luck! :-)

PS The deadline for 2010 is 21st Jan… that gives three weeks which should be enough even for people who don’t visit that often

Charlie Sheen is a pretty good choice Derm, was tempted with him but plumped for Tiger instead.

Haha, yeah I liked the Tiger angle… Joaquin Phoenix is a shrewd pick as well I think. Though I’m surprised you didn’t go for Mr Kershaw again!

Bloody Hell Dermot - last year it was as much as you could do to collate a few lists and now you’ve set up a complete administrative nightmare for yourself! I won’t submit a list but I would like to get a few points for correctly surmising that the winner of Death Race 2010 will remain a complete mystery until March 2011 ;)

Kershaw is taking a year on the bench as he’s been very quiet in his stalking ways…

My Woods / Sheen debate was kinda along the lines of - Woods has earned billions of dollars through his work and sponsership, and it kinda went to his head a bit and he stuck ‘little tiger’ in a few unwise places… I think Charlie Sheen could achieve the same if he paid for beers with a tenner and got change for twenty… the guy will bounce back, Woods seems like he has had more to loose.

Plus who ever heard of being ‘rescued’ through the rear windshield of a car with a golf club after crashing into a stationary object on your drive? there are issues there!

Do we all agree that Moussawi (Iranian opposition leader) would not be “usable” in our race, as he seems to be in prison of some sorts and might be killed?

Maybe u were thinking of this Mrs H:

“On 28 December 2008, Sky News announced that Wisdom had died, running a pre-recorded obituary, both as part of its rolling broadcast coverage and on its website. Shortly afterwards, when it became apparent that other news sites were not carrying the story, Sky dropped the story, stating that it had been published in error in response to e-mail queries.[26]”

@Zipless - I think it would be OK to pick him as he hasn’t been sentenced to death (yet)… he just said he’s “prepared to die” if necessary
