What makes YOU a special Therapy? fan

#

Started by babylonrass

Just wondering how far people have shown their devotion to Therapy?, This is not meant to be a competition for who is the biggest fan but I reckon it may go that way. (BTW I’m not saying I am)

Pros - I have all the albums
I have tattoos of Gemil and ?
My son is named Andrew James
I have travelled abroad to watch a gig
I genuinley like or love every T? song
Cons - I dont visit this site that often
I have watched a footy match instead of going to a nearby gig
I play other music in the car

Over to you guys????

I have all the albums on CD, all of them on vinyl except IL (still searching)
I have (almost) all there songs that are available
I used to run the T? in Canada fansite
I’ve travelled an 8 hour car ride to see them
I’ve travelled a 5+ hour flight, twice, to see them
Overall I’ve seen them 8 times, which might be close to a record for a Canadian
I am getting a tattoo of a T? lyric in the coming months, fingers crossed

ya, i can’t think of any other musician/band that is even in the same ballpark as T? is, when it comes to the above

Not too much as I’m still quite young but:

I made everyone in my mainstream class know them and a few now even like them, opening their eyes for true music.
I launched a small scale action on this forum to make people vote to keep them in the ‘Tijdloze’. I plan to keep doing this.
I was on stage in Mechelen and didn’t behave like an ass unlike some others (not sure if those were fans).

Then there’s some stuff that is mandatory and not really special.

Tattoos, albums and gigs aside, here are my reasons -

I was into them when they were popular
I was still into the band when they got written off
And…I’m still into them now.

Here’s another thing, which might border on the bad - supporting T? is like supporting football teams in a way. You defend them in a conversation with whoever then curse them when they put out an album that didn’t match the previous…then look back and think, bit harsh but had a point.

I have a T? CD case and a T? bag :)
I have travelled an 8 hour drive to see them live for the first time in 97.
Also I travelled another 8 hour drive to see them live in my hometown the day after :)
While I was in Cologne for business, I went to Bizarre Festival to see T? live while my friends were driving to Amsterdam for red light district!
I have a tatoo of a question mark! (guess why)
I was their guide in 2005 for 3 days in Turkey.
I’m always forcing people to listen to T?
etc…

I’ve got 317 Therapy? - releases (that’s every album at least 3 times (some even 20 = Troublegum), every single at least 3 times (but an average of 5/single) and lots of promo’s)
I’ve got about 425 Therapy? bootlegs
I’ve seen them 58 times, a lot of those were abroad.
But that probably just means I’m a geek, like most of you :-p

I find it in no way special that I’ve seen them 60 - 70 times , slept in the most unusual places or puked my guts out numerous times from seasickness on a ferry to go and see them.
We’re all a unique bunch of loonies here that go to all sorts of lenghts to see our lads play and we all have great stories to tell from our travels to do so. That’s what binds us and brings us together here.
It’s part and parcel of being a Therapy? fan and considered ‘normal’ behaviour. If you go do something that you really like it doesn’t matter what trip , time or money it takes. That special adrenalin feeling you get out of a gig is what you do it for and beats any drug ( well most of them anyway ).

Says it all that my mum fully understands my whole Therapy? devotion and all the gigs , if I skip a few months she would ask me why I haven’t been to any in a while. She’d even ask how the lads are doing.
Can honestly say that because of being a T? fan I met some great people , some very good friends and basically makes me enjoy life even more.
