Just to clarify… I’m not trying to be a dick or anything by keeping voting Polar Bear down… it’s just genuinely one of my least favourite T? songs. Lines like “I’m a Polar Bear, a Polar Bear in a zoo” are lines straight from the Teletubbies and imo the music is just stodgy riffage. Whereas I’ve always thought Safe’s lyrics were prob the best in T?’s catalogue - without getting too pretentious I’d even say it’s genuinely literary. Stuff like:
“The living germs keep these buildings alive
And every day we feed them with our dirt and rotten memories”
and
“This place speaks to him, it’s got its own language
Cold comfort through the gill cracked plaster”
Are genius imo!
