This does not mean that I don’t care but it’s funny how much time flies when you’re not actually *waiting* for a new album. It still seems like it’s only been a few months since the last album came out. I would imagine that if you’re counting the days between albums then it would probably seem ages.

Music wise, I’m hoping for another crooked Timber style album, but even darker as the band have hinted at. That sounds pretty evil !! I hope they record with Andy Gill again.. Or Chris Sheldon, I could so use another Chris Sheldon produced Therapy? album. :)

Since everyone Is gonna be guessing the title anyway ( albeit jokingly ) I may as well have a pop :)

Considering they finished recording ‘Crooked Timber’ in September 2008, it would seem about time to start a new album! CT wasn’t released for 6 months (March 2009), then there were festival gigs, the gold edition re-release, the live album, the 20th anniversary gigs etc… they’ve been busy so time has flown by.

Actually, it’s gonna be really interesting where they go from here, considering the sold-out big venue tour that they’ve just finished. Will the Troublegum lovers who went to those gigs stick around?

I cant understand so called “fans” of a band who ditch their favourite band when they put out an album they didn’t like…

How about waiting til the next one and see if you like that one instead ?

Or fans who, when a band puts out a bad album, dismiss their entire back catalogue, saying they weren’t even that good to begin with !!! :-\

Ah, let the buzz around a new album begin! Still very early days, but by the sound of it could be ready for around Easter.

Dead excited, who knows what direction they will go this time. Loved Crooked Timber, but they are not known for repeating themselves…

I don’t want to get too excited yet cos I know there’ll still be quite a long wait til it comes out. Those song titles sound very interesting tho!

well i started the topic ‘cause the band have been talking about it already in interviews, facebook, the site etc. i honestly don’t know what to expect from the new album and i think that’s a good thing ;)
i wasn’t keen on crooked timber, i did like some elements of it but not as a whole, so i hope they’ll keep the good parts and do something better.

Holy crackers, Living In The Shadow Of A Terrible Thing sounds great. I hope the album version sounds as evil as that live version - or even eviller! I didn’t know they’d played any of the new stuff live yet - I’m out of the loop!

I don’t think I realised they had either.

I think a lot of fans that liked that one poppy, perky cheery album (yes, tongue is in cheek) found that T? dropped off their radar after Infernal Love and went off in different directions with what they were listening to. It’s less of an issue now than in 94, but unless a band was being pushed by the likes of Melody Maker & the NME, I never really knew when something new was coming out - the delay between IL and S-D really didn’t help T?, and when S-D did come out, I don’t think A&M had much focus on things like coherent advertising and promotional compaigns. And there’s loads of bands who I like one album but never really bothered with much after that - really love Papa Roach’s Infest, didn’t like the next one much, not really bothered with them since & if I ever went to see them, I would be hoping that they played lots of Infest…

Which album are you referring to? Semi-Detached?

On the new song, it sounds véry, véry solid and rocking. I’ve been speculating on what the new album’s gonna be like but you know with Therapy? you can speculate all you want, the comfort is I’m likely to be happy with anything they do. Perhaps more than 10 songs would be nice, but they of course shouldn’t do ’

In short, what I was halfway expecting was a slightly brighter (in sound, not in lyrics ;) ), less ‘crunchy’ development of the style on Crooked Timber rather than something completely radical and new, but of course after one song it’s too early for conclusions ;) It’s made me want to listen to Crooked Timber again! (it doesn’t have anything to do with liking them less or anything, but I listen to less Therapy? now than before)

Andy was so hella funny I already vote for keeping the things he said on the recording xD

‘Another cheery anthem from the boys in black.’
‘I played that like an absolute twat, so if you youtube that footage, don’t judge me’ xD

Yeah, I’m sure there’s an interview somewhere where Andy says that he wishes they’d done an EP or something to bridge the gap between Infernal Love and Semi Detached and that’s when the fame thing really lost momentum.

On the other hand, does mean they play the 2,500 Forum, rather than 20,000,000 Wembley or whatever it is, which makes for a more intimate gig

Semi-Detached is like Therapy?’s ‘Believe In Nothing’ in that aspect, I think, I always thought they were under strict guidelines from the management while doing that album (which is why they made Suicide Pact - You First later and what inspired the Ten Year Plan). Still a pretty good album if you look at it now, but yeah after the masterpiece Infernal Love was I understand if they were compared back then people might have been disappointed…

That song sounds kinda…dirty. For the Album I’d imagine some additional distortion or other effects for Andy’s voice could suit very well.

i wonder if they would consider doing a singles club type thang that ginger (wildhearts) tried to do (until half way through when the record company went bust)? where they release a single/ep every month for a year, fans pay upfront for all twelve singles, then get some sorta live album or summat at the end?
just an idea…
