Was just planning a trip to Athens with the missus’ family from late June to early July.
Her cousin is playing basketball for Ireland in the Special Olympics and a gang of 5 of us plan on going over to support her.
Closing ceremony is on that 3rd of July and the festival T? are playing is only 20km down the road from the Olympic venue in Marousi…
Excellent planning !

Thanxx needsometherapy! What would you suggest, buss or train? Train is faster I bet:D We´ll be after midnight at the Athens international airport and then we´ll get to our hotel for sum sleep. Now it depends that which time T? will be on stage so how early we must get on the road again from our hotel. They havent announced the playing schedule on the festival site yet.

Why do you mention Thessaloniki then if you are arriving in Athens mate? Thessaloniki is 5-6 hours drive from Athens. You got me all confused here…Or you mean you wanna catch the bus to Thessaloniki and stop at Malakassa where the festival is?

petri :) i thought there was something wrong there lol. anyway, listen up. If you go by bus (national coaches) I am not sure when there are buses to go back. If you go by train, I don;t know how you gonna get to the venue from the train station. Think of the venue as a place in the middle of nowhere on the huge motorway going from athens to Thessaoniki. So not so easy top get and stop there without a car. So I would recommend your best choice is. 1 rent a car or 2 try this numbers here 0030 698 41 81 844 (mob) - 0030 697 58 89 254 (mob) - 0030210 9249330 (standard line) they are a private official coach/bus that arrange to take you to the venue and back for just 8 euros. Not bad I think ;) I would have offered for a list but no space in the car when going there…Maybe when we are getting back leaving “casualties” behind? lol

Hi,
So who’s going to the Wanaja Festival?
I’m thinking about going, but I’m struggling a bit with the Finnish on the festival web page. Good advice would be very welcome regarding the following:
- Is it easier travelling to Hämeenlinna from Turku or Helsinki?
- Are there any good/cheap hotels close to the festival area that anybody would recommend (yes, I’m getting old)?

It depends that are you travelling with car or by train ( I remember that you live in Ahvenanmaa, right!?) from the harbour. The train from Helsinki takes about an hour and the train from Turku harbour a little bit more (I think you have change for the train here in Tampere). But it easy to travel from the both places for sure.
Hotel Emilia is a good choice for place to stay and very close to the festival. and not that expensive either. They have an excellent breakfast and a very good sauna (have been there so I know what I´m talkin´about:D) Cumulus which is also in the central was fully booked when we looked at it more than a month ago.
Welcöme to Finland and to Wanaja, to the church of noise!
