I hadn’t got around to pledging toward the Ginger triple album yet, but upon hearing Fyfe might be involved I’ve just done it. Pretty awesome that Ginger hit his 6 month target in 6 hours.

This is very very exciting indeed. Ginger says “We painstakingly tracked him down ourselves. He is an incredibly elusive man. A lovely one too.” and also said “Fyfe is one of my favourite drummers in the world. Getting him to play on the album is a huge thing for me.”

It will be interesting to see how their styles mesh, as I don’t think this is going to be a really ‘heavy’ Ginger album. I’m just delighted that two of my musical heroes will be working together, and that Fyfe will be playing on an awesome album. Hope there is much more to come from ‘Fyfe Phase 2’!!!

So the big question is, when I go to see Ginger and friends in Bristol will Fyfe be behind the kit? If not I may cry a bit…

Joel,

According to the update Fyfe agreed on the first ten songs, and they haven’t started recording yet,
Ginger is releasing 30 songs, 3 drummers… I don’t Think Fyfe is doing the live gigs.

What makes you think he won’t do the live shows? Rich is probably more likely to tour I suppose coz he as a bonfide Wildhearts member. It would be so good if Fyfe was there tho. Could happen. Stranger things have happened, went to see Queens Of The Stone Age at Glasto several years ago and Dave Grohl walked out and nailed the show!

this is very cool news! But why is fyfe so scared of his past legacy? if you don’t want people pestering you, go and be a postman, not a drummer on a stage in front of people!

fyfe can’t do a descent comeback cause it’s allready known ginger uses him for his name

hahaha, cynical or what!!!

The usual live drummer these days is Denzel from Young Legionnaire and Antiproduct(to name only 2) and Rich stood in for the last few when he couldnt make the gigs.

Who knows though, stranger things have happened.

Buffalo,
I can’t/won’t speak on fyfe’s behalve,

But imagine if you have such a huge reputation as drummer,
It’s hard finding a band, so if he places an add, with his specific needs…
Guess what kind of musicians would contact him????

Thing is, In this case ‘i’ find that having T? on your resumé isn’t always a good thing per sé.

Offcourse it would be killer if he performd etc…

Fyfe previously advertised (a few years ago) his talents on Musolist as “original Therapy? drummer” - didn’t sound too scared of his legacy then! ;)

I don’t think it’s fair to say Ginger is ‘using him for his name’ (he hasn’t mentioned ‘Therapy?’ at all on his pledge update, for example), though of course those that know the Fyfe’s name will make the connection. I think it’s more the case that Ginger is a big fan of Fyfe’s (as he’s said on Formspring) and seems thrilled to be working with him. Also, this album is going to sound absolutely nothing like T? whatsoever, so is a great opportunity for people to hear Fyfe playing in other styles rather than being tied down to the way he played in the mid-90’s. I’m just excited to be getting a new album with Fyfe’s name on it, whatever style he is playing - I don’t need it to sound like Innocent X, Nausea, Epilepsy etc!

I think Ginger has said they have no plans to tour this album, but that may change.

No plans to tour the album? Doesn’t sound like Gingers style. When the best 10 tracks of the 30 on the triple album get voted for by the Pledgers, and the 10 tracks get the commercial release, I’d be very surprised if it wasn’t taken out on the road. So Fyfe, if by chance your reading this, there is quite a few people that would like to come see you again, so if Ginger asks say yes! Therapy? cover during the encore is optional.

He lives! Ginger on Formspring: “Fyfe is an incredible talent. It’s kinda scary watching him. He’s like an octopus with three brains.” And also, regarding the reaction he’s had on Ginger’s formspring page, “I already told him there was a lot of love for him on this forum. He said it was very heartwarming. And yes, he brought a tin monstrosity that I presume is ‘that’ snare.”
