All i can say about it is “Meh”… I’m sure i’ll hear it at some point, but It’s hard for me to get excited about anything new from Metallica these days and i’ve never been a fan of Lou Reed.

I tried once to listen to it and gave up… today while at work i listened to it from start to finish. There are moments that are bearable and almost listenable… but that’s just the part of me that tries and find good in any musical outlet. The other part of me thinks its a bag of shite… boring songs, bad pointless Metallica jams with mad uncle Lou talking (yes talking.. that ain’t singing no matter what people say) bollocks over the top.

Glad I never spent money on it.

Apparently Metallica reckon its their best work in ages, hmmm… can’t quite see a band ever saying ‘its a bit crappy, but please buy it anyway’…

It got a good review in the Daily Telegraph, read into that what you will…

Cons:
It sounds like a demo, with a drunk talking over the top of it.

Pros:
It does mean that St Anger isn’t the lowest point of their career

I don’t think anyone life is complete without listening “Lulu”. It’s a kind a cosmic joke. It’s not the worse album ever made but probably worse of 2011. But if you consider yourself a music fan, you have to listen this. Simple like that.

I’m gonna have to check it out! Pity it’s not on Spotify

I’m going to be honest here.

I’m a fan of Metallica’s 80’s/early90’s output and enjoyed Lou Reed’s work with the Velvet Underground. Whilst this collabaration is questionabale, having now heard it this needs a few listens to really get into but if anything its an aquired taste. This is more aimed at Lou Reed fans rather than ‘Tallica devotees.

By the way, there’s one track that wouldn’t be out of place on a T? album.

I’ve given it a good listen. Absolute fucking shite to be blunt! Lou Reed is so unbelievably talentless as a singer and songwriter. This is one of the worst rock albums EVER. It makes Flex-able by Steve Vai seem like a great album : ) And as for Metallica ‘I am the table’ WTF!!!??!!!! You are going to look back on this and regret it massively like you did that movie! More evidence to suggest that millionaires just don’t make good albums.

It is lyrically pretentious and impregnable; it is sonically monotonous, unfocused and unfinished. It’s like a one-take-drunk nightmare jam going nowhere, a marathon of poor vocals and second rate free form riffage. Lou Reed’s rap/singing almost never even remotely occupies the same space-time continuum as the music. I already knew Reed couldn’t sing, but what up with Hetfield? He sounds like a nursery of rabid raccoons trying to revive West Side Story.

That being said, “Little Dog” is a quietly effective and heartbreaking song. Pity they didn’t scrap just about everything else and start again from there. But it’s kinda cool they tried something so experimental. It’s just sad that it so truly blows.

Wouldn’t call it the Worst Album of 2011 but it is very mediocre. Like waiting for something to happen that just doesn’t come.

I played the new Magazine album ( No Thyself ) right after it and it is just so much better it’s unreal. Now there’s a contender for Best Album of 2011 !

It sounds like a soundtrack of a dream that built by a lonely teenager whose dreams fills with nude step mother and goat-head biology teacher. But you know, it could be worse. It could be about German playwright Frank Wedekind’s wet dreams or something like that.

“Worst album of” subject is kind a expended topic. I mean you have every kind of technical support, guitars, amps, etc… and lot of money to create a sound or image, a word that you want/wish. In the other hand there’s a band whose limited sources going nowhere, miserable day job, day late and dollar short situation bring the white noise. I kinda respect that. There’s a passion but no time, money or talent. So it’s considerable. I can safely say who haven’t listen this album yet…believe the anti-hype. This could be the worst album ever made by any music genre. We need more time and a new perspective to decide that.

This album is a troll. If they had taken it seriously and were actually trying to create something good, surely they would’ve redone some of James’ singing because it’s bloody awful. At one point Lou is talking (I refuse to call it singing) about ‘running out of semen’. I mean, what?

P.S.

I AM THE TABLE
