Now, someone could argue it’s taking away from a guaranteed ticket sale, but as a cash strapped family man, I can assure you it’s just adding to the merchandise sales (couldn’t afford ticket and t-shirt).

I do the same when I get on the guest list for gigs - I always make sure I buy merch to give the band some cash.
