Greatest Therapy? lyric

#

Started by J. Joyce Manson (Guest)

I’ve only just discovered this web-site and don’t know whether this is a topic which has been
covered/discussed before; but I’d be interested to know what you all think what the greatest
Therapy? lyric is.
My own choice would have to be: ‘fucking you got boring when it didn’t feel so wrong’ from
‘Me vs You’, although ‘The shrapnel of your insults buried deeper than confidence can ever
overcome’ from ‘Unbeliever’ comes close. It’s a far cry from ‘you’re nothing but a scrawny
little piece of shit, you’re gonna die anyway’.
Anyways, I’d like to hear your choices.
Cheers.

I think the greatest song musically and lyrically T? has ever written has been Heaven’s Gate - ‘I’ve been waiting on a coming waiting so long I wanna be there when all goes off’
another one of my favorites would be Hellbelly just the line ‘jesus without suffering’, Femtex ‘mastribation saved my life’, Disgracelands ‘ET loves LSD’ and Little Tongues First ‘I’m not suicidal I’m just bored’ even though SPYF is not the greatest lyrical triumph of Andy’s career the albumn still carries all the emotion any of T?’s other albumns have. Semi-Detached and Troublegum are in a direct tie with the best overall lyrical content on the albumns.

depend on the circumstance. if you’re with a girl/boyf then nothing is as good as safe (I’m clean and I’m clinging to you). loose for when you’re in a really good mood for no apparant reason (there’s no guns firing now, big yellow cranes hold up the clouds). depressed then you’re looking at most of the rest of infernal (man, that entire album is so intense, it is the reason for writing your own stuff), or if you’re just in a bad mood then troublegum

Yes, good lyrics all, but don’t diss the early stuff, that is still their best shit after all. ‘You need the enemy, you need someone to crush…Fuck democracy do as I say’. When this shit came out nobody had had so much balls in their lyrics since the Sex Pistols.

Difficult question..

Probably the most intense stuff is on Infernal Love - Personal Favorites: Me Vs You and Moment of Clarity.

Stand out lines from other songs :
‘Heaven kicked you out/you wouldn’t wear a tie’
‘I’m not afraid to die/I’m just scared of going to hell’
‘I’m not suicidal, just bored’
‘James Joyce…(fill in the rest)’

I hope I got the lyrics correct, FEMTEX is the song that I like best!

well, there’s always the discussion in the way that has to define what ‘good’ actually means, but lets skip that part. The line that most hit me is: ‘There’s nothing darker than love that’s gone sour’
And : ‘What if no one meets me on the other side?’
Others:
‘I wanna crawl up inside you and die’
‘God kicks with both feet and keeps his shoes clean’
‘You poor maggots down my throat, untill I choke’
‘Crippled, lost and vulnerable everytime I think of you’

pretty much all of ‘a moment of clarity’…

‘thought of you tonight, simple twists and turns,
incarcerated here, i’m handcuffed to your world.
your innocence is cruel, coquettish and arcane…
but i need it all the same.’

but lyrically, i don’t think therapy? are all that good… when bands such as the manics exist, there’s not much else you can compare to them to be honest.

although therapy? are alot better than many :)

I think that the best T? lyrics are those of Suing God, Totally Random Man, Black Eye Purple Sky, and ofcourse Disgracelands.Perhaps
Safe too.The line that i like the most is the one from Skinning Pit
that goes ‘and tell your friends you failed…You failed ‘. Actually it says ‘you fell’, but i prefer it this way.

I think the phrase ‘While you lead me down dark alleys in the ghettos of your mind’ (Misery) is a really strong one. I read some other great parts mentioned by other people, such as ‘barging into the presence of God’. I’m also really impressed by the opening part of Straight Life: ‘My tongue is twisted form talking, my feet are blistered from walking alone…’ (etc.). Or ‘In your retirement home, watching you wanting to die. This thing has sucked all the dignity from your life…’ (Bad Mother), that’s a great one too. And a last one: ‘You need the enemy, you need someone to crush’ (Animal Bones).
The lyrics are one of the main reasons why I like Therapy?. I listen to the lyrics most of the time, which is kinda why I don’t really like Limp Bizkit, for example. They had a couple of good tracks, but the songs seem to be getting dumber and dumber!

Sorry, Deekoi if we got the lyrics wrongly zpehl-lud or something but English is not my/our native language. Anyway it doesn’t really matter what the real lyrics are, it’s the interpertation of what YOU think it is, because than it gives it a personal feeling/value to it.
I’ve had many lyrics ruined (non T?) because I actually knew what they were saying and thought my feelings fitted better with the song, know what I mean?
Anyway, I think The Manic Street Preachers lyrics are great as well. The Holy Bible is a fuckin’ great record. It’s certainly very over the top, but it fits it well. But Morrissey is with no doubt the best lyricist EVER. In my point of view, no one comes even near in finding such brilliant song-titles and come up with clever, witty, to-the-point lyrics. Briliance!

So ‘Don’t forget the songs that made you cry and the song that saved your life, yes you’re older now and a clever swine, but they were the only ones who ever stood by you.’
