- SHAMELESS -

Ok, Therapy?, very funny, now where’s the real album?

I got my Shameless CD today, and I just finished listening to it. Therapy? really must be shameless to release this piece of garbage. Therapy? seems to sound different on each album, but this album could not even be conceived of by the same band that put out the previous seven albums. That fancy new font seems to have had an effect on the band, a very bad effect. From the classy look of the cover art and the crap their passing off as their music, I think Therapy? might be trying to change their image. Other than the (un-Therapy?-like) percussion on Body Bag Girl, this album made me sick.

Well, they can’t make everybody happy, right? I love the album, but I don’t like SP-YF. You can’t expect a band that makes 8 totally different sounding (full) albums to satisfy every single one of us.
And they haven’t changed a bit, they still hate the ‘rock star bullshit’, and they like personal contact with their fans, which isn’t something many bands do. But I guess you should have been in Zottegem last July to be convinced…

I wonder where the gemil has disappeared to. A pink bunny, lol. Well it’s not a problem. Same as the font. If you think the music is garbage now, well it can’t be helped I guess. I don’t really see a change in Style, the biggest change came with Infernal Love in my opinion, and after that and Suicide Pact I expected everything.

Yeah, gimme back my gemil!

In my opinion, SHAMELESS is a brilliant album which I’ve been listening to for five days now. There’s not a single song that I don’t like! Finally the ‘repeat’-button on my stereo makes sense…

Cheers,
Stefan

Gotta go now, Munich’s Oktoberfest is waiting…

Hey Myk, you really must be shameless to say such a thing. The new album really kicks ass and is not inferior to the other T? albums. The only advice I can give T? is: Keep up the good work guys!!

Shameless is the best thing they put out in the last years, but when I saw the bunny instead of gemil I was shocked. I mean the artwork is… well, I think cheesy says it best, but a pink bunny? A pink CD?
But I kinda like it now.
Anyway, who cares about colours or bunnys when there are so many briliant songs on the CD.

as there are so many bunnys around us at the moment, i was asking myself, if the video to ‘gimme…’ also will be full of them- or will T? even wear bunny- costumes by themselves? what a funny thought: andy in a mint-green costume, michael in a pink, graham in a yellow and martin in baby-blue one…hehe, cool :-)

..even if i saw live just once in zottegem (only once, but, hey!)..
so..

i also think suicide pact-you first is therapy?’s best album, okay, top 1-place shared with troublegum (sorry, can’t choose between the two)

i haven’t heard the whole shameless album, but i’m scared it won’t be as good as the two albums mentioned above… i’ve heard the sound clips, i’ve heard the single and two other songs, and none of them really kicked my ass, it’s good rock’n’roll, but nothing more,
but i’m gonna wait with stupid criticism, and buy the album and hope it will grow on me…

Springpoes, I know exactly what you mean. When I listened to the album the first one or two times, I had the same feeling. I thought that it was just a good rock album, but nothing ground-breaking.

Well, it still is a rock-album, and it still isn’t ground-breaking, but it’s goddamn fantastic : ) Believe me, some songs will rock you hard, and I’m not talking about ‘Gimme Back My Brain’. My fav tracks so far are ‘Theme From Delorian’, ‘Endless Psychology’, ‘Tango Romeo’ (which has a melody a bit similar to ‘Wall of Mouth’) and ‘Stalk and Slash’. A lot, eh?

Btw, it’s my first post here, so hello me. Introducing myself through music, I own every full album except Nurse, and became a fan during the Troublegum era. However, I like the latter stuff more - I can say that Troublegum is my least favorite Therapy? album (though it’s still good). It’s hard to say which Therapy? is my favorite. Each album has a certain style I love, and yes, this includes Infernal Love and Semi-Detached. I love both of these albums, can’t understand what so many don’t like about them. Especially Infernal Love is undeniably good, a masterpiece IMO. Still I don’t know if it’s my favorite.

I’m from Germany, and will most likely see the band in early November. I’ve never seen them live, so you can imagine that they’re high on my list : )

The same happened to me. During the first two or three time hearing the new record I was a bit disappointed. Now I can say every time I listen to it, my heart beats much higher than before. First I was afraid the melodic style of the record would it make a bit boring soon. But up to now that’s not happened.

Finally, ‘Suicide Pact’ is my Therapy? fave, too.

well,i actually think Myk is right, eventhough,i dont think that
shameless is so bad as i thought the very first time i heard it.
I really like Dance, and maybe some other songs,
but i cant understand their attempt to change a face,
meaning they changed the THERAPY? characteristics
such as gemil and font for what reason?they want to have
this punky old rocknroll thing style, and maybe thats why so many
people like so much the new album. Therapy’s momensts of glory
was nurse -era,with all these brilliant EP’s.their music
was never different,it just evolved, that is clear if you listen to
babyteeth,pleasure death,nurse troublegum,and even infernal love.
and then fyfe left, thats when therapy started to make album
that sounded different from each other.even the lyrics arent
that good as before.,
but anyway you cant have it all,and after all ill see therapy for
the first time this year at Ocean,

T o me it was the other way. When I heared it for the first three- or fourtimes I thought it was better than everything before, but the more I hear it the weaker it gets.
I mean it’s still a good album, but most of the songs aren’t as good as I hoped.
It’s the opposít of SP-YF, wich I thought was total crap when I heared it the first time, but it grew so much.
I hope the songs of Shameless will be better live, because if not it’s really a bit disapointing.

P.S. Anyone noticed that the last four albums all began with the letter S?

I think it’s a pretty disappointing album. Normally with Therapy? records, there’s a few brilliant songs and the rest are good. But this time, there’s a few only good songs and the rest are pretty poor.
The good songs would be Gimme back my brain, Dance, I am the money, Wicked Man, and maybe Theme from Delorean, but the rest I wouldn’t really rate. It seems they’re happy to put out ‘rock n’ roll albums’, and Andy has said this. So, it looks like Therapy?s days of experimenting and coming up with different types of music and original ideas, are over. Hell, in retrospect even ‘Suicide Pact’ sounds original compared to ‘Shameless’…by the way, Suicide Pact has actually started to become one of my favourite albums - never thought I’d say that when I first heard it two years ago!!

I like the first 4 songs very much, after that it gets weaker, some songs are boring, but I like Tango Romeo also very much for example I agree thatit sounds very much like standard Rock, but it still has a T? touch. Your opinon, Alan is very much like that of the Visions magazine’s review here. They rated it lower than suicidepact, I didn’t expect that. There’s also an interesting interview in it. Andy said that at the time of Troublegum he was younger and single, seeing a lot of things negative. Now he’s married and very happy, they leave the ‘dark sides’ to younger bands, which is more natural. That’s what he said.
