hello, going to my very first therapy? gig on tuesday at the zodiac in oxford. never been to any sort of gig before, so i imagine a club gig isn’t a great place to start… being the live music virgin that i am, i was wondering if there is anything i should know? safety tips etc… much obliged, and looking forward to tuesday immensely!

If your condition is not that great, don’t stand at the front! Most of the crazy ones are in front (many times, that includes me ;-) ), Sometimes I’m exhausted after just one song! Anyway, the best place to go berserk is in front.

don’t take a coat, just wear a t-shirt (plus others clothes for you perdantic people out there) because you will a) lose your coat b) get sweltering and have to carry a coat around all the time c) get so hot you collapse from exhaustion

Best Place to start is a club gig, the best gigs are always the ones where you can look the band in the face and say ‘FUCK YOU!!!!!!!!’ (in a heavy metal respect kinda way!) Safty tips dont drink to much and try and dance like a crazed fool or it will be sicky sicky time!!

Few things to note

Don’t buy the Beer… Will be overpriced and dehydrate you

If you wanna mosh the very front is normally a squash but you have more chance of keeping your teeth as opposed to the middle bit.

Don’t wear a wallet chain, should you crowdsurf people don’t appreciate being strangled and are likely to smack you one.

say hi and engage in conversation with the security gaurds A) they will be more willing to pick up plectrums and bits for U and B) might be able to collar the bands for you, Well it works for me anyway

Last enjoy yourself and and sieze the moment, if you see Andy or Martin, grab em while you can, no 2 gigs are gonna be the same

does that help or am i rambling?

hello!

thanks all the tips, i don’t think i’ll drink much, and probably not alcohol, only being 15 and all, but that’ll come in useful for sure. i guess i’ll end up in the pit wherever my mates decide to land, which will be fun!

i sincerely hope i pick up some memorabilia from the gig, and god fucking damn, i’m dead sure to have a good time, this is t? we’re talking about!

out of interest, is it worth taking money for any merchandise they might be selling, or would it just get nicked?

i’ll be sure to post a ‘review’ (probably me ranting on about how fucking elite it was) when i get back :)

thanks!

Hey James, great choice for a first gig indeed! And especially a club gig! Those are the best ones, because you’re much closer to the action, and the sound is generally much better than at larger venues or, even worse, festivals.

Some tips, make sure you drink enough beforehand (non-alcoholic) because you sweat A LOT in the pit in a hot small club. And, sadly, there will probably be at least one dickhead in the pit who finds pleasure in being a bit too ‘pushy and shovey’, but just ignore him and make sure to enjoy yourself!

Have fun!

As for the merchandise, there are some nice t-shirts they sell at gigs which cannot be bought from the website. They only cost about 10 pounds sterling, which isn’t too much I think. Unfortunately, they only sell t-shirts (and one *cool* hooded sweater), but I’d say a t-shirt is well worth you money.

the last T? gig in newcastle there was indeed a twat who was too pushy and shovey, and he also went around just batting people, so when he went into the toilets a bunch of people followed and decked him

hey guys, are you all CRAZY?
you have to go to a t? concert, so also because zodiac (i’ve been once during an holiday in oxford) isn’t a really cool place, well,

just get drunk

and headbang

that’s the right way
you have to drink really a lot
and after the concert you’re gonna vomit all you eat and drank before maybe you have the luck to let andy see you’re vomiting(!!). i think this is the best way to enjoy, expecially if your friends are as drunk as you are, better if you are a little bit more drunk than the others…

Should be a cracking gig tonight - mind you, I’ve never seen Therapy? do a bad show. They gave out free chocolate eggs at the Easter gig a few years ago - so sweet. Still got to work out how to get from Oxford station to the Zodiac. I guess a taxi beckons.

The beers not to expensive there, or at least wasn’t when I saw Antiproduct back in July (from what little I can remember).

Well it was a good gig (how could it not be?) The Zodiac seemed a bit more expensive than last time I went. (Seen T? twice there now) Me was really annoyed that they had signed albums for £12 when i bought mine when it first came out for £13. grrrrrrrr. Ah well, got another cool T-shirt anyway :).

I really fancy one with a pink bunny on though … only had girlie ones of them :

How did others find the gig?
