Playing a left handed kit now.
Haven’t played in a few weeks as waiting on my Planet Z cymbals (only £69!!) to arrive from my relatives in England.
Just the pedal I need. Never took much interest in double bass til I heard some stuff you can do with them!!!

Double bass isn’t just for technical metal, you know - I have heard some great stuff on Prince albums that’s done with double bass drumming and isn’t even slightly Heavy Metal in style.

Aye its not! Even the odd use here and there can be very effective. I’ve always thought that the little not-even-really-a-flurry in Clean My Wounds by COC is one of the best use of double pedal ever - its only there for second but as an accent its fucking class and its not a metal for the sake of it song is it???
What made you switch the Colin??

I used to write left handed, but switched to right handed mid-way through Primary School.
I’ve always been left footed, and in the drum lessons in school I always complained that I would prefer to have my left foot on the kick pedal. I asked for the kit to be set up in a left handed set up so I could play open-handed and they refused then kicked me out of drum lessons.
So, I got my own kit back in January and played open-handed on a left handed kit for a while. Didn’t really feel right for some reason. Tried switching the kit back to a right handed set up and it failed too, then I just started playing on the left handed kit not playing open handed if you get what I mean…
Sorry I can’t switch to Music speak mode and explain it all properly. :)
In a nutshell, I naturally switched, in the same way in which I naturally switched writing hands.

Its one of my pet hates - drummers who play left handed on right handed set ups! Just play a left handed set up ! ? :D
Also - drummers who only have crash and ride - WTF is that about ?
Thirdly - :o Whats with everyone using the floor tom as a ride these days ?

Hello drummers of the WoM, I just wanted to make sure that you didn’t miss this. Please support your fellow WoMble drummer (Mr Anna) by giving it a watch if you can bear the cheesefest production values and/or yeat another ‘reality’ TV show. Thanks :)

1 - That’s what I’m playing on; a left handed set up.
2 - In a few weeks, that’s all the cymbals I’ll be using, before expanding to maybe 2 crash’s and a ride.
3 - Not everyone is doing that.

Yes, but there are other bands that use more cymbals.
Why bother getting pissed off at the few bands?
Actually, name a band that uses just a crash and ride cymbal?
I can’t think of any. Razorlight use 2 crashes and a ride, as do Snow Patrol!
Well, they did when I seen them live.

The Wildhearts use 4 crashes, a ride, and sometimes a china.
I’m sure there’s more “The” bands that use more than a crash and a ride. Not every drummer on here gets pissed off at the amount of cymbals that a drummer uses.
And there’s nothing wrong with the Arctic Monkeys.

Theyre not as bas as some. The Klaxons are beyond shit.
It’s not the amount of cymbals per se its more that nobody was doing it until recently - and now everyone is doing it. - Thats what I hate more.
When people cant think of their own image. Everyone is doing the whole oxfam chic with big hair look.

If they want to play with just a crash and ride; let them.
You aren’t the guy behind their kit, so I don’t see much point complaining about it!
If it pisses you off, simply ignore the bands and don’t buy / read NME.
