Title: Italy

… too much hair, too little talent! What was Vieri up to with that last minute miss??? Even makes Ireland’s Kevin Kilbanes miss after Ian Hartes penalty miss against Spain look good! …and Kevin Kilbane is baaad - he collected ten tokens from Kelloggs to join the Ireland squad!

Yeeha!! What a game!! Most exciting game I’ve seen so far, with the better team winning! I’m sorry, but I’m really glad to see that a team that actually wants to play some decent soccer won for a change. Maybe it’s the influence of Hiddink, but I really enjoy watching South Korea. It’s time for Italy to drop the ‘catenaccio’ (?), wear decent shirts, cut their hair, come down from their clouds, and start playing real soccer!!

GO SOUTH KOREA!!!!

Italy lost because of the way they play. They were on the backfoot defending after they scored which made them vunerable. It makes you wonder why they didnt attack in the second half, with the talent they have going foreward they would have wiped the floor with the koreans. They were scared to go and score a second and paid for it.

Huh? I really hate the way Italy plays, I must admit. They’re a bunch of Gigolo’s. But this is unjustice. A game must at least be FAIR! Fair rules and GOOD discisions. The FIFA is a corrupt mother fuckier. Ruining the game…

well,
we WON the match at the “golden goal” but somebody tought that was an offside (you ALL have seen it!)
we could win it with a penalty, but the referee kicked out totti for ?simulation?????

that wasn’t a match, it was a false show made by the home country..
i think referee was really well payed to do that…
if not, HOW COLD YOU SEND A MAN WHO CAN’T DO HIS WORK IN A WORLD CUP?

the reason is that the home country MUST pass…

we were totally SCREWED…
i hope somebody will pay for that!

for me the match finished with Tommasi’s golden goal, that was absolutely REGULAR…
For me (and for ALL the public opinion) ITALY WON the match..
there’s no excuses, we played our match in eleven (and then in 10), but corea had 12 men, yes there was also the referee with them…
let’s see what will happen with spain…

Infernalover, I agree Italys “golden goal” should have stood, but I think it was just another wrong decision which happens in every game - I doubt there was anything corrupt about it.

As for the home side “must pass”, I don’t really believe that. In 94, Brazil beat the USA in the second round and the USA could corrupt anything if they wanted to.

It has to be said - Italy were negative; playing for a one-nil win and not looking to kill the game off - that tactic very nearly cost Spain against Ireland too. At least Korea played attacking football.

Waht about that asshole chairman of Perugia (the Italian club who Ahn ,the Korean golden goal winner, plays for)? He sacked Ahn because he scored against Italy! What was he supposed to do, miss it on purpose??? Would Ronaldo be sacked by Inter Milan if he scored against Italy?? I hope Ahn takes Perugia to court and fucking cleans them out… talk about sore losers! I have no pity for the Italians.

wrong decisions also happened in the matches against croatia and mexico.
but italy went out for other reasons: the trainer really sucks.
he did all wrong, in all 4 the games they played.

about korea, i don’t think they corrupted anyone, but i think that some of the referees were influenced by directing the home team.
for instance i remember a match of the 1st stage (maybe korea vs poland , don’t ask me why i watch such shitty matches), korea was winning 1-0, the referee gave only 2 minutes to play after the 90th minute, and then he stopped the match after only 1 minute and 20 seconds.
does this happen in every match?

hey penn, for me trapattoni has done nothing wrong… we had a great team, the only mistake: well, he could change vieri cause he was really tired…
alan: so why moreno (the referee in itay-korea) now is returning to equador, his fucking home? i don’t think because he did his job well…
also, you can think what you want about italian gameplay, BUT we won the match, and nothing else matters… is not important how you play, the important is to win, and, FUCK, we DID it! WE DID IT!!!
as i said, let’s see what will happen in the korea-spain match, i’m really courious about it…

Title: Korea vs Spain

I actually want Spain to win this match, mainly cos they beat Ireland. But also cos I wanna see a Spain vs Brazil final - now that would be deadly!! I think Korea will freeze on the big occasion against Spain - okay, beating Italy was a huge shock, but Korea were not expected to do it. Now there is expectation against Spain but I think Spain will have too much for them. For the moment though, I’m really looking forward to England vs Brazil - christ it should be good!

Infernalover - maybe the referee (the guy from Ecuador), is being made a scapegoat to help pacify the Italians? Let’s remember, he didn’t disallow Tomassi’s goal - the lineman did. I will admit though, the Totti sending off was harsh. I don’t think it was a penalty but I don’t think it was a total dive either.

if brazil will win, we won’t be able to make us equal to them in 2006, when we’re gonna win our 4th world cup…

in my opinion trapattoni made 2 big mistakes:
changing delpiero with gattuso (a defensive midfielder) when italy had all the chances to score a goal to put an end to the match.
not changing vieri with inzaghi or montella (a fresh player in that situation would have scored at 90%).

the referee stole us a goal, but our way of playing stole us many goals against korea (one of the worst team in this cup).

No Carlo, Italy lost, and they totally deserved to lose!!! Why can’t you just admit South Korea outplayed Italy? And I’m not sure if Italy was worse off without Totti, he was really crappy throughout this tournament. This is nothing against Italy, but I’m glad the team that played attractive soccer and actually wanted to play some decent soccer won!
Oh, and I think in 2006 Germany will be coloured ‘arancione’ instead of ‘azzurro’, I’m sure our guys have learnt their lesson!

Uhm. There’s a big difference between who deserves to win: the one who plays the most attractive/better soccer (Korea) or the one who scores the most goals FAIR and SQUARE (italy). If we want the first one, we must implement a Jury and decide who’s best.
If we want the seconde one, we need new ways of making the game FAIR.

I totally agree with you Carlo! If italy wants to play the way they do (fun to watch or not), so be it. The referee made ONE HELL OF A STUPID discission. Scapegoat or not. He’s the only one to blame and the Fifa with him, becuase of the conservative rules.
5 Seconds a look from the 4th official on a TV screen and Italy’s of to the next round. Like it or not.
If you want to see ENJOYABLE footbal go see your local little children’s soccer. They play nice.

And you call yourself Dutch? I’d rather watch nice attacking soccer than watch boring defensive soccer such as Italy’s, even if you lose a match. There’s more to soccer than just winning, its actually meant for the public’s entertainment, although most teams seem to have forgotten about this.
Holland may have lost the ‘74 and ‘78 finals, but everybody remembered them because of the way they played. I’ll never forget the way Holland played in the 2nd round of ‘98. So screw Italy, they got what they deserved!!
And may I remind you of the fact that it was the LINESMAN who made the mistake, not the referee, so he should be the scapegoat. And you can’t blame the ref for penalizing Totti, after all, the Italians are really famous for their acting on the pitch!

Turkey was better except Hakan Þükür. I think he must quit playing football.
This year’s world cup is so important. Because, it has shown us that noone can be favourite. People must start to live with surprises..

I don’t think we can pass Brasil. And I don’t want to think of playing the final or winning the cup. Because, tonight all the streets are crowded. Everyone’s drinking and screaming “Red - White - TURKEY!!!!”

In the 27 years of my life it’s the first time for me to say “I’m proud to be Turkish!”

and, michael, yeah, our team wasn’t so good, but… it doesn’t matter! a team wins a match if it scores, not if it’s “enjoyable” to watch! (i HATE watching football match, but for the world cup i do it…) *AND* someone think that the totti red card may have been a penalty for italy…

Also unbelievable how easy it was for Turkey to get to the semi-finals. The only serious opposition was Brazil (which they didn’t deserve to lose, I must say), but Japan and Senegal, China, and Costa Rica, come on!!?? At least South Korea won (controversially) against Portugal, Spain, and Italy, that’s some serious opposition. This World Cup is getting crappier and crappier by the day…
And Carlo, I’m addicted to soccer, so every now and then it’s nice to see some decent soccer. But the result is the most important thing for a team, you’re damn right about that!
