hole break up

any thoughts, anyone?
i still like them, although i can’t explain why…
me and my friends have a cover band called REIKÄ (obviously you have to be finnish and have a weird sense of humor to appreciate this…) and we play hole in finnish…
i know, not only does it sound insane but…

I’ve got mixed feelings about the whole break up thingy. They were great but it was surely time for the band to split up. On one hand it’s sad. Their music evolved a lot. The way from ‘Teenage Whore’ to ‘Heaven Tonight’ was a long and hard one and I would have liked to see the next step. On the other hand, Mrs. Love has been busy elsewhere, so I kind of expected it.

Well, the band (Reikä) has been going on for about 6 months now… tho’ it must be said that we’re not very active… I’ll keep you posted about any developments. Basically, we don’t have a clue…
As for my favourite song by Hole - it would have to be ‘Violet’, although I quite like ‘Playing Your Song’ as well. It’s always difficult to rate these things.
I had a bit mixed feelings about the break up. On one hand, here’s a band that I really like and that’s quite unlikely to release any new material.On another, I really couldn’t see them going anywhere anymore musically.
Courtney is such a legend, you have to appreciate the way she’s turned things to her benefit. With all that crap happening around her and stilll managing to turn it into a career ;)
And the things that come out of her mouth, it’s amazing how she gets away (or rather doesn’t)
with it all. Entertaining, to say the least. Needless to say, I’m the singer in Reikä…

I like ‘Violet’ too. That’s the main reason I bought ‘Live Through This’ in the first place. ‘Doll Parts’ is also great, ‘Teenage Whore’ is a classic title and ‘Be a Man’ from ‘Any Given Sunday’ soundtrack rocks. I’ve always preferred Hole to Nirvana, mainly because when I started to listen to music for real, ‘Live Through This’ was just released and Kurt was dead.

Courtney kicks ass. She was great in The People vs. Larry Flynt and Man in the Moon.
