Are we talking about drummers generally - if so
Neil Peart - Rush
Dominic Luckman - Cardiacs
Lars Ulric (is that how it’s spelt) - Metallica

All get my seal of approval.

I haven’t seen T? live since Fyfe left so I can’t comment on his replacement.

Lars Ulrich a good drummer?! You must be joking! The loser can’t even do a decent drum fill! It’s like he’s playing in slow motion.

Fyfe would kick his ass big time. Nobody comes close to the great Fyfeski.

Lars Ulrich is a greedy motherfucker aswell (the ongoing Napster issue). Doesn’t he have enough money? They also got t-shirts and mugs you can order on metallica-online.com which says ‘FUCK NAPSTER’. What a joke this is. They’re so stupid. Do they really think they can get Napster users to abandon this wonderful thing? Lars said in a recent interview: ‘You’re using Napster? Fine. Then you’re not a real Metallica fan. We don’t want you a fan’ What kind of attitude is that? But it will come back to him, rest assured. He just doesn’t know what a fool he’s making of himself.

Metallica once used to be decent (besides Lars’ drumming and it was a very long time ago) But now they’re just pathetic! Crap music!

Just had to get it out of my system.

I agree Lars is nothing on Fyfe, and I dont think Metalica are anything special, but I think they are dead right to sue the ass off Napster. Its not right that a band put a lot of work into songs and get nothing back.

As far as drummers go Fyfe is the greatest followed by Hans from Psycore and Dave from the Foo Fighters.

Napster is the greatest thing that has been released in years. Now the greedy artists like Metallica know that they have to release a top album every time. Then you would want to buy a copy of your own. But only then.

It’s their fault if they release a whole album with only one acceptable track, and the rest is shit. I will never buy an album which only contains one good tune. Never again!! I’ll download that tune using Napster instead.

YOU CAN’T STOP THE PROGRESS. IT HAS JUST BEGUN.

I’m a drummer myself and honestly feel that Fyfe
is one of the best in the world. I can’t come
close to playing Teethgrinder the way he did and
other drummers I know who I’ve played it to also
say that they wouldn’t be able to play it!
Jimmy Chamberlin of the Smashing Pumpkins is
also an excellent drummer.

I’m sticking to my guns on Lars.

Metallica - and I’m talking the pre-Load stuff here - always had a good, tight rhythm section, particurly in the Cliff Butron Era and Lars had a good deal to do with that.

The same goes for The Stranglers. Jet Black wasn’t a fancy drummer but he provided a good solid base for the rest of the band, the same is also true of Larry Mullen from U2. No fancy tricks but a good basic timekeeper (U2’s rhythm section suffers in the Bass department though).

speaking about rhytm sections , Black Sabbath had one of the best ever. Bill ward and Geezer Butler. I dont think many people would disagree here. Their early records are testimony to that.

Metallica (and anyone else for that matter) should sue and will
hopefully win.
Napster want something for nothing, which is theft.
Messiah is right on this one.

Talking about Infernal Love…T?’s worst ever track is on there.
Bowels of Love.
It’s their only bad one though.
What’s your worst T? track.

I’Ve had conversations via e-mail about fyfe and his drumming and as me and alan are drummers i think we both realise how good and how inventive he was. LArs is a bit crap - i still think he’s okay but he plays really simple stuff - Another good drummer who you guy’s should check out and also the Band is Helmet’s John Stanier - he in my view is a superb drummer and influenced fyfe alot in the snare sound and general drum kit sound he has. Fyfe rules though and he’ll never be forgotten.

Also i think Lars should continue his crusade against napster - it’s just another rock n roll event - right?

How would you rate Dave Grohl’s drumming from a drummer’s point of view? Is he actually any good, or is he just rated highly cos he was in a fairly successful band?

Dave was and still is a great drummer. I also think he can sing pretty good. The guy currently playing drums in the Foo Fighters can certainly be put up against him though. He rocks. Cheers.

Fyfe is a fucking amazing drummer-the thing that is best about him
is that he plays different to everyone else. Dave Grohl is good too,
but he doesn’t come close. As for Lars Ulrich… I like Metallica a
lot but I think he is a dickhead. I do however agree with the stand he
is making against Napster. If everyone could download music free off
the net, then bands won’t get paid, they can’t afford to record
anything else, the band splits up. Think about it, it’s difficult
enough now to find a T? C.D. in the shops. It would be easier for
everyone to download stuff off the net than it would be to hunt the
shops for it, and pretty soon T? and other bands like them would be
out of business.
