What band is better?

(Before changing the message boards’ software in August 2007 this discussion contained a poll, which may return in the future)

There should be more options on this poll. Pablo Honey is an absolute classic album which I love but Radiohead have just been going down ever since. With each album they just get worse and worse. Oasis were always bollocks though weren’t they? My vote goes to early Radiohead.

I vote for Radiohead, but only because i hate Oarsis with every fibre of my being. Apart from ‘Supersonic’, that was quite good. I notice the 9% who voted Oasis are being conspicuously quiet…

Somebody said ‘every Oasis album is better than the next’. Thought the first 2 were great at the time, but they’ve not aged that well, especially compared to The Bends.

Last saw Oasis at Wembley in 2000, when they really couldn’t be bothered, despite scalping £30 off everyone there. On the other hand, Radiohead at South Park last year were fantastic, despite the rain.

I even have a green plastic watering can, so I guess that puts me firmly on the Radiohead side. Last Oasis single was okayish though.

I’ve never been into either of ‘em. Radiohead went over the top after Karma Police I think, with weird sounds and exaggerating with experimenting.
Right now, I’m really into Muse. When Showbiz came out, many compared them with Radiohead, but they stepped out of their shadow and created their own sound. Plus they are superb as a live band. You gotta admit that Matt Bellamy is a wizard with the guitar, and he has quite a voice. Just listen to In Your World, by far the best song I’ve heard this year if you ask me. I just bought Hullabaloo, although it’s a bit expensive, it’s really good!

You’re right about Muse sounding less Radioheady as they go along. Hullabaloo’s my favourite album of this year, and In Your World/Deadstar are both fantastic. It’s a shame they didn’t put live versions of New Born or Plug In Baby on the cd though.

The live gig on the DVD is even more amazing. This is from the same gig as the CD (Le Zenith in Paris), but it contains more songs, including Plug in Baby (one of my fav songs of last year), New Born, and Bliss. Unfortunately, it doesn’t include Dark Shines.
I’ll try and record the gig from the DVD on cd. I think the quality should be ok, so if you’re interested, we can trade or something?

It’s just so easy to hate Oasis, it’s just so cliché! i think the guys are quiet funny, ironic, and at least real!! So…I’ll vote for fucking Oasis!

It’s my birthday at the end of the month (which will be spent flying home from malaysia, so will only be 18 hours long), and the dvd’s been requested for then, but if it doesn’t turn up a trade would sound good - if I’ve got anything you’d be interested in.

6 hours of work left and then I’m awwwwwaaaayyyy

Just voted for OASIS as they are fantastic musicians and performers. They may be complete assholes but their music’s great.

Btw, just found an old interview back from 1994 when Andy, Noel Gallagher, Jarvis Cocker and that Elastica chick gave comments about different songs. Really funny to read…

Radiohead, no question.

Except Liam’s singing on a track on the new album by one of my faves, Death in Vegas, and it actually sounds pretty good…!

yey Death In Vegas :)

I went to see them at the Cockpit a few years ago and “accidently” went backstage and met them - lovely chaps.

I have to say I’ve never minded Liam’s singing but I really, really hate Noel’s voice. I think Oasis went downhill the moment they started letting him sing.

DIV are definitely one of my favourite live bands. The first time I ever heard them was at one of the V festivals (can’t remember which year) and it was a fantastic gig. Well, it was for me and the other three people who were actually watching.

Uhm…well, though I don’t like the personalities of the Gallaghers, I must admit I like some of their songs, but then again I also like some radiohead songs…so I’ll just go for Radioasis
