Ocean Colour Scene

#

Started by Sabotage

I went to a pub just down the road from me last night to see a local covers band who I know. Tried to pinch their drummer for my band once actually. Tee he.
Anyway, I got to work this morning, and someone said (who was also at the pub) “Did you see Ocean Colour Scene? They were there.”
I says, “What? playing!” being a bit confused.
They explained they were just there for a drink and what-not.
Missed that one then.
Boring story now over.
You may go back to your lives.
Just glad it wasn’t some band I actually like.

I’d put Ocean Colour Scene on a par with Shed 7 i.e. complete and total shite.

They were the perfect soundtrack to TFI Friday, mind you.

I don’t blame you, they are/were crap.

I have to call you up about Shed 7 though, Sam. Their early stuff (ie. most of Changegiver) was cool. Surely you must have seen them live 20 times since they seemed to spend a vast amount of time playing in Leeds.

I once gave Rick Witter a small plastic toy that said *meat* on it (don’t ask) and years later ran into him and he said he still had it, meaning I won a bet and gots lots of free beer - hoorah! Here endeth the shit story of my Shed7 encounters.

I went to Uni in York and they were the closest thing we had to local celebrities. To be fair my dislike of them is entirely based onv their irritating singles, as I haven’t actually listened to any of their albums.

But I still maintain they’re shit, and Rick Witter looks like a monkeyman.

I think half the comedy is in his simian features (that theory also applies to the success of Supergrass). The b-side to Dolphin, Immobilise is one of my favourite tracks and as I said, Changegiver was a good album. Didn’t rate anything they’ve done since though.

Not really my thing - I enjoyed the novelty of Caught By The Fuzz but wasn’t really bothered after that. I do think their success is laregly due to the awesome power of their sideburns, Samson stylee.

Shock news - Danny is going bald. Saw ‘em at the Essential festival in May and he had a spotlight shining on his head. Revealing the imminent arrival of a Friar Tuck-style bald spot.

Well he could shave his ludicrous ‘burns off and slap ‘em up on top…but I agree, with a Tuck-hairstyled lead singer, they’d be fucked! :)

lol, good plan. Or maybe he should just do the decent thing and shave it all off.
